The Young Lions
« on: August 10, 2024, 02:30:45 PM »
I just finished watching The Young Lions with Montgomery Clift, Marlon Brando and Dean Martin.
I remember I saw it the first time behind a Turkish bakery when my father was stationed in Izmir.
I was only 9-10 yrs old and didn't get the crux of the movie but having just watched it, it seemed
awful close to A Tale Of Two Cities!
Has anyone seen this and did you see the similarity?

That movie should be banned.  "The Young Lions," by Irwin Shaw, is one of the world's best novels, not only about WWII, but about people and how they change.  The movie completely reversed the book's progression.  Irritates me just to think about it.  They did the same thing with "The Enemy Below."  Nuts.

So, no.  I did not like the movie.  And it probably does resemble Dickens' novel, so good catch there.

Well, at least you get consistency with Hollyweird.
