Using raios

I have watched a number of out of date videos, as well as read a ot about how to use the radios in Aces High, but to no avail. Can some one point me to a current article or video that clearly explains the process.

Mongoose site is a great site full of good information. (the first link Xanax posted)

My site is info that has been lost to time (the second link Xanax posted). When googling thing you'll find a lot of broken link, I try to save as much of that info as I can so we dont loose it (Mongoose's site will be added to mine so it isnt lost)

Aces High has lots of stuff to learn. Dont be afraid to ask questions, we will have answers for you.

I am still having problems getting the voice to work. I hit cntrl / but when I press F11 noone hears me.  I have set uf the mike and speakers/headset and they work everywhere but here.
If you could tell me the steps in order so I can talk to countrymen for right now..  Plus how do you map F11 to button on the joystick.

The "/", ALT/, and so on are text channels. The use them hit the "/" key to open the radio...

In each of the 4 boxes across the top are drop down boxes, in the boxes are the main channels to text on..... country, squad, and so on

In the first drop down click on "country" and then click in the text field....the long bottom box. Typing in this box and hitting enter will send the message to your countrymen (green players).

After you hit enter, it saves that dropdown choice. So every time you hit "/" it will tune that channel (country) and you can just type and hit enter to send it.

The other 3 drop downs are the same, you can tune them to one of the default channels, or one of your own. Cross country channel is turn off, however any channel over 200 is a cross country channel. So to talk to friends on other countries, click a dropdown box, drag your mouse across any of the main channel titles highlighting it and type 200 and hit enter. Now when you use that combo (ALT /, Shift / ...) it will tune to channel 200 and you can type to the other countries players.

For voice you use the 5th box over. Highlight that drop down box and type your in game name (only available on line) hit enter. and close the radio box (click in the text box and hit enter). Press "T" on your keyboard and talk into your mic...."Test 123" and release the "T" key. If all is good you should hear yourself saying what you said into the mic. The "T" channel is a "transmit/Tune" channel. you must tune to a channel and the other people tuned to that channel are to only ones to hear you. You DO NOT need to open the radio box to talk on VOX (voice)

"F12" is the other voice channel. This the channel of those flying near you on your team. Press the "F12" key and talk, then release the key to transmit to other local players on your team.

I tried it the way you wrote but when I select the V, and Enter my name (Guano:) Hit enter then depress T on the keyboard I never hear my voice being played back. Cant figure out what I am doing wrong.

Did you close the radio window? click in the text box and hit enter. And then hit "T". the radio window has to be closed.

If you have done that you said you have setup the mic and headset. Did you set it up IN game or in windows? There are some drop down boxes un the sound tab to make selections for available sound sets on your computer.

I set up the headphones in windows and tested.  They work.  Can't get it to work. I open the radio bar, and select the far right V, select room. CLose the radio box. I did all this while online. But when i type T Idont hear my voice.  Sorry for asking this much help.

You also have to hold the T down while talking. Like Keying the mic. You have about a 4 second limit. After you talk, let off the T.

Ok, open the radio either by hitting "/" on the keyboard, or hitting "Radio" on the clipboard menu.



On my radio bar the first "channel" I have tuned to "177". This is the channel my squad uses on the Bishops side. If your a Bishop, join us if you like. Channel 2 is tuned to "country" as well as channel 3. When you have a channel tuned to a person on your team to "chat" privately when either they log or you do it will default to "country", that is why I have two channels tuned to country. Channel 4 is tuned to "200" so I can chat cross country. 200 is the channel most players have tuned.

"V" or channel 5 is tuned to 177 on my radio. Again, its the channel my squad uses. To test your VOX (voice channel) drag your mouse to highlight the number/letters and type in your name.....



It will be yellow text like above. Hit enter and the text should turn white. hit enter again and the radio box should close.

Now hit and hold "T" and speak into your mic. Release your T key and the game should play back what you just spoke into your mic. Notice this second window when you open the radio...



The left column shows what channel my "V" channel is tuned to (177), and everyone else who is tuned to the same channel (TalonX). When you type your name into the V channel box and hit enter it should put your name in this box. The right column is those players in your local area that you can talk to using the "F12" key or "range" channel (GreyWolf).

If you are still having issues check the ingame sound (Options/Preferences/Game Sounds)



Here you can see that my Speakers/Headset are connected to my "Creative SB" but my Mic is connected through my "Realtek High Def" board. This is how mine is set up. Be sure yours are connecting to the boards you are using. Use the drop down option to see all the options the game recognises on your computer and choose the ones your headset and mic are plugged into.

Guano, there are two vox radio channels within the game. Range (F12 key) broadcasts to any friendly within a certain distance from you. You don't have to tune anything for range. Tuned (T key) broadcasts to anyone tuned to the same channel, and if the channel is 200 or above it will broadcast across countries.

You can test the tuned vox channel off line, but instead of typing your in game name into the radio 5 box you have to type in "server". Without the quotes.

Make sure your mic works in windows first then, as Fugi showed you set up the mic in AH. Also make sure your F12, and T key are still mapped to transmit on those channels. You should be able to tell if they are buy looking at the drop down voice window the corresponding channel should highlight when that key is pushed

If you are still having issues we can set up a time to meet in the TA and I can help you get this, and any other issues you may have resolved.

Fugitive, I was typing my war name into the text bar.  Your explanation was very clear.  How do I program into a button on the stick. F11 or F12 For voice.

BTW I was on Air Warrior a long time ago, then Aces High came out and I switched. It;'s been 5 or so years since I was on Aces High, and a lot has changed and is new.

Go to "Map Controllers" on the clipboard. Select the controller you want to program a switch to in the top drop down. Double click the button on your stick this will open the mapping section. Click "global" and scroll to the end and select either "transmit" or "range" vox and hit OK on the first window, and OK again on the clipboard.
