Drone Engines Off After Death.
« on: October 01, 2024, 09:08:27 PM »
When the buff you’re flying is killed and you switch to the next one, all engines are restarted? Has this always been a thing? Why am I just noticing this?

It seems to vary... sometimes yes, sometimes no. Might have to do if you're in the guns and/or in one of the drones...

the restart engine sound is a bug in he sound system.  your engines are sill at whatever power you had them before.  you want to know of another bug.  fly above a friendly bomber and touch it with the bottom of the plane, the brakes will activate.

you dont want me to ho, dont point your plane at me.

I thought it was the sound too but the engines are not moving at forest and you are losing speed during the restart.

This was not the case for a long time and then something changed...

Both Shane and Dadtallica both have asked me to give examples of changes I have noticed in bombers in the past year. It is one thing for someone with my reputation to make accusations. its entirely another when other members of the community notice the changes too.

Getting thrown into a drone witih its engines off has serious consequences in the heat of the moment. I will not bore you with every example but it gets really bad.

This was not happening when i came back 4 years ago. It wasnt happening 2 years ago. Sometime between then and now changes were made to bombers on different levels. Damage received was nerfed and now american bombers are not tanky. Accuracy of guns are no longer lazer beams 100% of the time. Ive noticed a 33% change in accuracy when shooting past 600 and a 50% change in accuracy past 1k.

Here is another annoying bug I never noticed until the changes happened....

When launching and taking off, why are bombers randomly throttling up on 1 engine when I do not press anything but (shift+) to throttle up full power??? Im not hitting shift E of Shift 1,2,3,4??? There is no explanation and it did not do this before.

Not correct.... more than 50% of the time I get shot down the drone im thrown into has its engines off by default. Imagine this happening at a critical time when your low and slow with your nose down 1000 feet above the ground. Only direction one is going is down when that happens :(

I get this in films and in game if O adjust sounds or switch planes in films. There is like an entrance trigger restarts engine sounds from beginning. I doubt the engine itself goes off. Its prolly an illusion.

I wonder if this trigger is from having auto takeoff enabled, thats an entrance to start the ac trigger.

Is auto braking enabled?

Sounds files are entirely different from engines being off when jumped to your next plane. When it happens its usually just one of the drones not both. its a bug that wasnt there years ago....

I don’t feel it’s the sound alone. When you are insta fly out I t he bombers and you hear the engines start the props are lot already spinning and your speed/momentum has drastically decreased. I’ve noticed it started maybe three months ago and I’ve even had it happen during a micro freeze. That was lots of fun.

I also don’t think anything was coded with nefarious intentions. I will have to film my next bomb run to see if I can notice anything new.

I understand what you’re seeing and hearing. Just guessing on the cause really.

It's been a while, but when I used to create mission with air-starts (even in single engine fighters) it would start you mid-air with a dead engine in the act of starting.
That case definitely not just a sound bug because you'd start to lose alt until it rev'ed up.

Maybe it's the same logic glitch that happens when you switch to a drone, as it might be considering that the same code path as an air-start.

Pretty certain I told HT about that years ago and\or submitted the bug.

$0.02.

[Edit] You can see an example of that behavior still in the offline dogfight missions I made.

Hmmm never noticed in the situations I saw it. Will need to go educate myself, on something that prolly won’t get fixed.

Hey well that sounds pretty similar for sure.
