Micro freeze in SEA2 - not seen
« on: November 03, 2024, 03:57:30 PM »
For the second week in a row, I flew the whole 3 hours of Scenario with not 1 freeze or stutter, others reported the same (although a minority thought they'd had 1 or 2)

If I was to guess, there's some task or job running on the MA server that the SEA2 server isn't affected by.

I've got mine down to a minimum, but still get at least one per night in the MA, but quick.

I didn't notice any in the SEA2, yet.

Kinda off subject, maybe,....I noticed instantly was no lag visuals in this event. Although yesterday I tried out a added tweak Brooke posted before the event.
In MotA, the B17s were so damn jumpy/warpy with some form of lag that I could not use 80% of those views, no matter who made the film. Saw them live, saw them in films, it was rampant.

In this scenario everything is moving nice and smooth.
Did we use the same arena for MotA?
The connection upgrade came after MotA, right?

Regardless, I didn't *notice* any freezes in this event, again yet.

It slowed way down after I did the watchman fix but it’s come back pretty rampant
Back in 2022 after a loooooong break from 2010. Old name Ratpack, same for the BBS.

Squad I did the most tours with were the Excaliburs then The 172nd Rabid Dogs. Still trying to talk Illigaf, Coola, Oldman22, and Joecrow into coming back instead of being boring old farts!

steely seems to have a good nose for troubleshooting details. I'll keep my eyes on it like the rest. Good observation.

So far, I think we've just been finding bandages, not an actual fix. I think settings I made just minimized what is still there.

Every one of them has a good hook to think "finally".

Again, massive variables,.... including it's not just in AH. Are they the same or similar type of freezes requiring the same fix? I have no clue.
It seems to have a latency smell to it, but I've/We've thought a lot of things since it started.

3 things happened around the same time for most.
Windows Update.
Nvidia Geforce Driver Update.
HTC connection upgrade.

The only thing that stayed common was DX11 version of AH.

Each one alone has a lot of variables, 3 makes it almost infinite.
It is literally, trying to find a needle in a haystack. Good techs in on it means a small magnet is being used to go through it.

After I did the watchman fix I was good for about a week, it is back again, not as bad as before, but back.

I to didn't see any during the scenario. Nor do I see it happen in IRACING, IL-2, or WW2OL the only other "Online" games I play. (all on the same PC)
If it was a thing in IRACING they would have 250,000+ players burning the place down.

Tried all the tweaks with no ill-effects, but in the last hour I've seen 3 in the MA. <shrug>

I read on places like reddit threads goin on there from other games, don't recall which ones.

SO FAR, I don't see them while making videos, films ARE the game. I have other new issues with FV that make me crazy,.. but haven't seen it watching films, YET

For those that can use dx9, that removes all stutters for me.   DX11 has always from day one given me stutters.

I haven't seen any using dx9, but it does skew the text a little. Not enough to make me crazy, but a touch.

DX is for VR, yet, don't seem to hear anyone chime in about VR seeing them.

Also, from what I understand, Steam users must use DX11, I could be wrong. But if so, it's not a good impression. It's nothing horrible, but ya know....whiners create rivers.

HT said it's off and on problem since day one too. Kinda hints at it's not the game to be off and on with no changes being made. <shrug>
