Could someone explain what Dar icon is?

Your plane will not appear on Dar until your plane is above 100 ft. alt.

Dar Icon is now 100 ft. up from 65 ft., Dar Bar setting is still 250 ft.

wait, what?...
Dar Bar is not the count of everything above 100ft, but number above 250? <scratches head>. huh

It is the aircraft icon you see inside the Radar Ring. specifically the enemy aircraft. If the enemy is below 100 ft. AGL you do not see an icon. I would suspect that the "AWACS" function might over ride the Radar minimums, we'll have to test that.

I’m also assuming that as I’ve found plenty of goons before via awacs even though they weren’t on radar

I really miss when dar icon was same for bombers or fighters.

Robin Olds would not have had success from Operation Bolo at Aces High.

The old radar was a much better system but the icons aren’t nearly as problematic as the AWACS which I believe overrides the 100ft limit. Intercepted some low lancs last night which were popping in and out of radar until I closed the gap. Could be he just jumped into the guns and popped up a bit but I couldn’t tell.

I remember that the radar height was originally lowered because almost ALL bombing runs were made at ground level below the radar.  Let's hope we don't force a return to the 35 foot radar height.

I think the 35’ increase to 100’ was just enough to to change an aspect of game play. Ti y tweaks get a response.

That said, I’m wondering on tree height.
Currently they remind my of orchard height trees.
My first thought is some, maybe of certain species, should be 50’-60’, and frankly a notch more trees.

This could have slightly more challenging deck fights, bring the terrain closer to reality and pleasing to the eye. Running an attack on the deck, better watch those taller trees.

Also some grasses should be 2’-3’ height.

Computers have the resource buffer to handle it well.

I haven’t dug into Speed Tree, but it seems these would be easy and tiny tweaks that could add dynamics to the terrains.

Seeing more lakes and ponds in the maps can add to visuals as well.

Tiny tweaks go a long way. It also shows perspective players positive movement from HT. It give a change to talk about.

Speed Tree is a very robust and diverse program to say the least. In AH3, all of the terrains are Speed Tree elements from the ground, grass, bushes, and trees, it also includes the buildings in the villages and farms. IRC, the tallest trees in the terrains were at 65 ft..
