My condolences Hang.   :(   Know what you're going through.  I've got cats myself, and I've lost a few over the years (some dogs too.)

My condolences! It's very tough to lose a pet. But it sounds like Hairball had a very long and good life.

Just last year, in May, I lost my favorite co-pilot (would sleep on my lap for hours while I flew AH) "Egbert" to a coyote, after 15 memorable years. An indoor cat his entire life, he'd snuck out through a cracked window at around 4am. My wife and I had a very tough time dealing with his death.

Anyone else think this thread is getting extremely depressing?

Hang, really best luck to ya getting over your loss.

After dealing with so many deaths of family/friends/pets in my (short)life time, I can honestly say that the best way to bounce back is to go out and have fun. It's a pretty rough road, so it's best to get over it quickly.

Hang, your buddy was a class act!  Seemed like a true personality. Made ya a good person too.  I hope ya don't turn into an ahole now, or else we'll get HB to come back and haunt ya!!   :)

My condolences for your loss!

We have a great cat and when she passes my wife will be a nut case for awhile.  And I guess, so will I.

Take care, Hang!

RIP Hairball

The thing I love about cats is that any animal smaller than them...

is food.   :)

Or bigger too Funked. I used to have a Tabby that as a kitten would go out in the "woods" (read: recreational area that simply couldn't be developed) behind our house in DC and catch rabbits.

The damn things were twice his size but he'd catch them and bring them back to the front lawn... little guy was viscious.

He died two years ago from diabetes, old age and somehow getting outside during a windy cool night on the chesapeake bay.

Having personally had a pet die in my arms I know how you’re feeling.  I’m glad to have known about Hairball and the times you spent with her.

I have a dog and 2 cats, my youngest cat “Tang” (as in the drink, can you guess what color he is?) loves to sit on the top of my high back desk chair and watch me fly.

Humans could learn a lot from animals....

<S> Hairball!

Well, as far as pets dying in arms, I've had to 'put down' 2 dogs myself...you see, we lived in a very rural part of the country, on a farm growing up...a Vet was something you called for your horse or cows, not for your pets...when we had to put our two beloved hunting dogs down (one due to severe hip displacia and the other due to the same thing, but age as well) we would do it ourselves, (our dog, our problem)...there ain't nothing worse than putting a gun to the back of their heads and doing it yourself..but looking back on it, it taught me at a young age about how valuable life is...that its okay to cry as a guy (first time I'd ever seen my "Stone-wall Jackson" father cry, and haven't seen him cry since) and it taught me about love and compassion for animals.  Both dogs *knew* it was time, from the moment we carried them to the trailer attached to the back of the tractor, to the point we laid them to rest on the ground prior to putting them out of their misery..."Tony" actually licked my hand once I set him in the field, then lay his head down with the back of his head facing us (he'd seen us shoot cows for butchering, that we consumed in our family)...it was truly a sad moment...something I will never forget.

Rest in Peace, Hairball. <S>

Hang, you were as much a gift for Hairball as she was for you. You were both lucky to have each other as pals for so many years.

Sorry to here that.Hang in there because time is the only thing that helps.

I took my handle from a favorite Black Labrador that I had to put down about the time I started Warbirds.
