About 16yrs ago, I logged into... Yahoo Singles?  I was going to delete my profile (wasn't into dating at the time, long story).  Hadn't looked at it in months. In fact, I was only on there as part of some "investigative" work.  Someone had sent me a goofy question about my profile weeks before (goofy because I didn't remember what I had put in my profile).  I replied with "what the heck are you talking about".  Been married to her 12yrs now.

I did it once about 24 years ago but it didn’t exactly work out… we’re still married!  :neener:
Back in 2022 after a loooooong break from 2010. Old name Ratpack, same for the BBS.

Squad I did the most tours with were the Excaliburs then The 172nd Rabid Dogs. Still trying to talk Illigaf, Coola, Oldman22, and Joecrow into coming back instead of being boring old farts!

Great post, Molsman. It's good to read something nice like that once in a while. You scored a good family out of online dating.

I had to look up what "WaWa" was. Why aren't those out west, I wonder. Looks way better than a Stuckey's or 7-11.

I met my wife through a singles club. I paid for the year (wasn't expensive thankfully) and of course met her on the first activity I attended. She tried to kill me 3 times the day we met. I like that in a woman. We've been married now for 26 years.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

I have several friends and relatives who met spouses through on-line dating and are happily married or long-term dating and happy.

Some are younger.  Some are older.  They also would tell me how this or that on-line service specializes more in this or that aspect, what things they had to watch out for, etc.

Seems generally like on-line services are good way to meet people as long as folks understand that not every person you meet on-line will end up being a good match.  It seems to take meeting a handful of people before finding a good match.

The line between dating for fun and more seriously is very blurred in my experience.

Its a question of honesty but there is also self discovery and people change.

Single person households or on the rise though.

I did eharmony for maybe two years between 2016 and 2018 - worked in the sense that I met my wife and we have a wonderful 3yr daughter.

However

Our struggle is that she came from a big city on the east coast to my small town - Lots of culture shock. She struggles to fit in, is depresses about our lack of amenities/resources, has a lot of emotional anxiety/depression issues stemming from a turbulent childhood. It was hard for me to gauge that fully by being long distance because we were mostly laughing and having fun together while dating - not experiencing real world daily life together. Some people can leave and blend their lives together I’m sure, but I highly recommend focusing on a tight range where you come from a similar pond and can both easily flow between your family/friends and her family/friends. My wife being 1,000 miles away from what she grew up familiar with has really messed her up. She also craves value, respect and quality time which she lacked growing up - she thought I’d be her savior, but she has been jealous/angry at me whenever I want to do something for myself or others (sees it as me not prioritizing her). She has told me she would’ve left and gone back if not for our daughter.

Yes online dating found me a woman who had similar interests and goals as me looking for marriage and family, but we did not discover how different we were in temperaments until real life hit us both. I thought I could handle her emotional issues to be there for her for a lifetime, but honestly she burned that for the past two years.

By the way, you guys are famous… or “infamous”. She found this thread on my phone, continues to be one of her “grapes of wrath” anytime she gets mad at something.
