Is there a way to do it besides kills? Or can kills just be one of a few metrics?

I've tried to do awards for events in the past and it usually just ends up being the same few people because they're simply just better (and I tried to offset that by shying away from kills as a statistic). They're going to be just as good in a P40 than in a Tempest or Dora or Yak3. To encourage others to fly them, I feel like it should be inclusive in some way to encourage everyone to do it for a shot at whatever the prize may be. Also should take into account people who may not be able to fly 8 hours a day.

“”

I included using K/D along with K/T (which is just as easy to measure as any other stat) as well as a minimum kill requirement in my original post.  What I suggested takes into consideration everything you mentioned.

K/T It's not just as easy to measure if you fly more than one plane. You'd have to make everyone time their sorties in that plane with the # of kills, and then trust their word on it.

Hit% and points, I have no freaking clue how to even measure that TBH.

K/S wouldn't work either because you don't get a plane sortie # column. So you'd have to trust their # of sorties in that plane. The only 2 metrics you can look at while giving other players a chance to fly more planes is K/D or # of kills.

This is true. I was under the impression that participants would only fly that plane for the tour.

If you involve k/d, its more likely they will use the selected plane in favorable situations.

That's why I think just number of kills is really all you need.

At the end of the day, if it gets more folks in different aircraft it's a win.  The money is just the motivator.

Clearly there is only one solution to the same few men winning a competition;

Good points. So are we sticking with 1 30+ eny plane or any plane that's 30+? One plane would obviously be easier to manage and track.

I'd say 1 plane, easy to track.

I think something that needs more discussion is..

Can we run an arena message?

If you want to contribute to the pot, you need venmo?

If you want to be eligible to win the pot, you need venmo?

Venmo is the only app I have to send and receive payments.  PayPal is sketchy.

The key here is a MOTD in the MA.

I love the idea of getting veteran players out of the easy mode planes, but a competition like this isnt going to do much. It may interest a few of the better players to give it a go, but many of these players that use the monsters of AH do so because that the only way they know how to get kills. They know they havent got a chance against the really skilled players.
