I have a series of both .ahf and .mp4 (nvidia overlay) from 1/13/25   This one featured the usual set up of early/mid war planes and had a real nice turnout of about 16 people 8 v 8.

I'll post in the films forum in a thread and you can do whatever with them.

The challenge of capturing MNM is that .ahf does not show the reduced icon ranges or fog/cloud overlays, while the nvidia video capture does, it loses the abilities that are built into .ahf

Also, my views are instant (no vr) so it may not be as pretty as those who use vr or pan/snap views.

(give me a day or two to put them together in a way that makes sense - probably one .ahf with the relevant .mp4 file per post and maybe some commentary)

Looking forward to them, Shane. I've noticed the Nvidia overlay vids are quite stunning and really pop. I know ALT + Z brings up the overlay menu while in flight or whatever but are folks mapping a button to film with Nvidia? How do you skip the overlay menu and just record?
Thanks.

Thanks.

ALT Z opens the program, then click the "setup" gear. Once in there, scroll down to "Record" and you can set up a keyboard shortcut to start and stop the recorder. It auto saves when you stop and you can also setup "where" it saves the video.

The only problem I have with the Nvidia is my mic is open all the time so you can hear me breath, and the Bruins playing in the background  :neener: When I use video from Nvidia I grab some plane engine sounds and loop it or just do my narrative over it.

I'll take what you have. No need to mess with it, I will cut it up in my editor to try and show some of the exitment that goes on there. Thanks

Thanks, Fugi.

Yeah, hearing Judd Sirrot in the background calling hockey or me constantly berating and cursing at myself would get old for sure.
I'll take Castiglione calling a Sox game on a lazy afternoon in the background though!

I have mine set to capture the last 5 mins (auto replay) and it saves with shift+f10 - not optimal, but since I'm not into editing I found the 5 min size acceptable for the size limits on film files.  Actually, a bit less, maybe 4 mins fits under the size limit.

Mine defaults to alt f9 to toggle recording on and off and alt-f10 to capture the last 10 minutes.

I tend to use the last 10 minutes option to catch a good fight that I had.

Mine is set to record my mic on a separate audio track (I think it’s default?) then when I’m editing in DaVinci Resolve (good, free) I either mute the mic track or key frame it to cut out everything except when I’m saying something relevant so that nobody has to hear the weird breathing I do in a dogfight (I was unaware my breathing was weird until I started doing this)

That's a good idea for limiting the editing needed. Thanks!

Interesting. I think I'll do the same except I only need about a minute as that'll cover any and all highlights of my flight before the quick yard-sale of my plane begins.

My wife says she hears "man, I suck at this, I should quit" about 6 times an hour. I'll try to edit those out.

Ill have to look into this more. If I can easily cut the mic and my breathing sounds that would make things quicker in editing. I use Resolve too. Started using the "Fusion" section and figuring out what I can get away with there.
