Perk point multiplier for top ranking players
« on: February 04, 2025, 07:21:01 AM »
Hear me out.

How about adding another variable to perk points by giving you bigger perks for shooting down higher ranking players?
Correct me if I am wrong but perk points have the following value ENY value of your ride divided by ENY Value of enemy plane X perk point multiplier.

WHAT if we add on (just a hypothesis) say multiply X1 for shooting down a player in the 400 ranks, X2 in the 200s and X3 for shooting down players in the top 100?

I'm just looking to incentivize the newbies. I am not quite sure if this would promote bad play in the long run but would love to hear thoughts and debate.

Sounds like a fantastic idea!

Another would be to have higher eny levels for each plane for the higher scoring players..

All code changes so we are blowing in the wind again but nice to dream..

I like it. It would require coding changes though.

Is not a good idea to penalize scoring.

Not a good idea.  You would be penalizing people for being good pilots.

Yeah, it's better to penalise them for other reasons  :old:

I respectfully disagree, I happen to recall in my history books a pilot getting an extra congrats for downing an enemy ace.

I already suggested that perks paid for an uber late war monster flown by an “ace” go to the one who shot him down.

I am still scratching my head on how this would penalize the top ranking scorers. Nothing changes on their part.

My goal was to reward those with the lower rank and encourage them to get into the mix

I'm not sure if it's changed much but since I played but it seemed to me that there was very few "new" player and the ones that did try the game didn't seem to stick around long enought to get in the mix.

I'm not sure of how well it worked out since I haven't been playing WW2 online but I remember they were talking about having a squad that new player would automaticly be assigned to when the jointed the game that would help them get started. Maybe something like this would be more useful in keeping the new guys involved long enough to get into the mix?

I think he was talking about Eagler's comment

Punishing the better players by adding higher ENY.

The original idea of rewarding players for shooting down the better player, I think is a good idea.

IMO It should cost me 10x the points for a perked ride than a newbie would have to spend for the same plane..

Would it be a reasonable idea to delay publishing score and ranking until the end of the tour? It might induce more to "jump into the fray" with no consideration for how that might affect my rank.
