In game poll for Buzzsaw/maps
« on: March 15, 2025, 03:15:23 PM »
Wishing we could do an in-game poll like we have before about the map rotation and see how maps are rating? I am a big proponent of having some larger maps and Buzzsaw removed, as I think they are horrible for building #s in the off hours, which provide little fights and action for European and early gamers.

I also wish for a new randomized map rotation. This current one is stale for me, especially when we get into the section of Buzzsaw through Oceana. These maps are just rough and I think dont perform well when there are back to back large maps. IMO, I wish that whole section would be removed.

At least if we had a poll, we could see what the overall community playing the game thinks.

Thanks

I can do polls on my page. Just cost extra 120 yr. Not many run their own sites like back in the day.

Willing to wager this BBS has a poll feature that just needs to be turned on. Lots of free external sites you could do it on but it would only be the people in here doing it for both. Not sure how representative that is of the whole.
Back in 2022 after a loooooong break from 2010. Old name Ratpack, same for the BBS.

Squad I did the most tours with were the Excaliburs then The 172nd Rabid Dogs. Still trying to talk Illigaf, Coola, Oldman22, and Joecrow into coming back instead of being boring old farts!

Not sure why these maps are not taken out of rotation given the endless complaints about them these days..

It is just editing a list from what I have heard..

Guess even that is too much to ask for these days..

Yes these boards have a poll system, it was used pretty heavily back when we "voted" on the next plane (the B29). In game also has a poll setup where when you log in you are presented the question at hand and you can answer or just close out the question pop up box.

Well most of the complaining is done here on the boards and that is a very small percentage of players. So it isnt a good sampling.

A poll question in the game would be best. Those that "care" about the map can make their selection known, and those that dont care can just by-pass it. I think it would help the game play a lot to get rid a few of these maps.

I had a bbs on my old AW tech site, its probably there.

My problem with running a poll is making sure its accurate. Running it in bbs would not be, because only about 10-20% even read them.

My idea was to run it and only announce it in the MA, 3 hrs each run for two days. Just the half baked version of the idea.

Sorry, didn’t read the whole thread first. Agreed.

I think arena numbers when some of these above mentioned maps are up, speak volumes for themselves.

Let's be honest, Buzzsaw wouldn't be bad with a repositioning of the strats and a few other minor tweaks.

Even though there is symmetry on the buzzsaw map, it's hard to notice. I just cannot figure out why there are 2 CV fields right next to each other when a field could be there and create much better fights around the edges. I'm sorta with SAM that it may be fine with a new layout, but yeah right now, it's just a middle of the map mosh pit, but the #s are clearly noticeable that most players just don't want to fight on it.

My problem with the maps is not so much how they play, but the arcade-ish effect they give.

First thing I thought when they first started coming out yrs sho.

I tend to like a more serious approach to items like this.

Not sure the reason they remain.

Its really irritating when it runs on weekend prime time. Seriously

Must be afraid that someone will quit the game if removed, or just really doesnt care anymore as long as the money keeps flowing in
