I may be outta the loop a touch, but high speed has its own issues. IMO DSL was great for gaming as less packet dropping than higher speed cable.

I’m on xfinity (puke) and evidently not conveniently located and had a issue. Soon as my ping hit TX it doubled ms and/or timeout.

I wonder if optic not being everywhere yet causes issues.
Time of day and location seems to play a part.

Sounds logical. Copper wire has its limitations regarding speed, load and distance whilst optic is quite immune against all three.

Time of day matters as some hops belong to servers who deliver Netflix. Back in the day Skuzzy told that Level3 is the bad boy as their capacity wasn't sufficient for both Netflix and various other actors like AH - obviously the former was given more bandwidth just because of money. Guess the Transatlantic connections will be clogged now for the funeral of Pope Franciscus.
