.squelch list
« on: April 05, 2025, 11:33:40 AM »
awhile ago someone asked about having a automatic squelch list for people that bug you. theres a way to do this through a script. if theres any interest in this, i will happily show anyone how to do it. once you make the script, all you have to do is manually add to it, if thats what you want to do.

please feel free to let me know and i either show you how, or send you a script thats premade and all you have to do is install it in your HTC folder under scripts.

AH has scripts???  Guess that's what the script folder is for.   Learn something new...etc....     :D

I am interested to know the syntax for scripts and how to execute them.  Is it described in Help somewhere?

no its a secret, and i am the keeper of the scripts!! LOL

so if you take a txt file, lets call it squelch.txt and on the first line type .squelch Gamename and save it into your script folder, it will show up in your scripts no matter what arena you're in.

each entry has to be a separate line so it would look something like this:

.squelch Gamename
.squelch Gamename
.squelch Gamename
etc, etc, etc.

apparently .vsquelsh does the same thing, so all you need is .squelch Gamename.

this works for most .commands that you have access too. For CM's there are even more choices.

hope this helps<S>

the script folder if you default your install is: C:\Hitech Creations\Aces High III\scripts

to get to the scripts after you're in the game, you have 2 choices:

you can either type in the text buffer .script SCRIPTNAME if you know what it is? in this case it would be .script Squelch.txt.
but if you do it this way the script has to be in the root of C:\Hitech Creations\Aces High III

or you can follow the next set of directions to manually get to scripts. if you have more then one, you might want to use the following:

Hanger
o'club
Options

Go to Options/Arena Setup/CM tools/Scripts

you should see squelch.txt, just click on it and it should tell you, you just ran script squelch.txt and you just squelch players X, Y, Z etc, etc.

I only squelch bb so no need for automation.

But what else could I be scripting that would be beneficial? Enquiring minds want to know.
Back in 2022 after a loooooong break from 2010. Old name Ratpack, same for the BBS.

Squad I did the most tours with were the Excaliburs then The 172nd Rabid Dogs. Still trying to talk Illigaf, Coola, Oldman22, and Joecrow into coming back instead of being boring old farts!

I enjoyed being around him a few years ago, but something happened and he started getting confrontational, he moved to the Knights shortly after that. I wish him the best, but have heard an awful lot of horror stories about him over the last several months. Hopefully he'll get better.

Wow a new "Perma squelch" thread ... hasn't been one of these in a few hours.

Been a major gripe in the community since ... well, Beta back in 99.

When I was actively playing I had a scripted Macro assigned to one of my Keys on my PI engineering X-Keys. However I only had up to four names on it at any given time and most the people that made the list never lasted long before getting banned or leaving. I have the newer Xkeys Macro Board and a Streamdeck XL

I imagine you can do the same with a Streamdeck which are fairly common these days. Damned Gh0st has tutorial videos on how to set one up for DCS, again I don't Imagine it would be to hard to make a single key-press squelch list for Aces High on a Steamdeck.
