Seems it could be far from coming together. Combat Pilot that is WW2 based is being worked on. Seen a interview with the developer. It is supposed to be Pacific based WW2 aim. They have their own channel on youtube, combatpilot. Who knows if this will catch any wind to take off, looks pretty interesting. Anyone have any inside tea to spill?

Ya, we've chatted about it here some time back. A lot of variables that will decide if it's a great sim. I saw a cpl interviews.
Most here don't care for the strictly Pacific. Kinda of almost too narrow of a game.
What will the FM be like? My guess similar to IL-2
Your basic choice for using an FM
Standard Flight Model (SFM). Defines a more data-driven means of achieving flight dynamics, in conjunction with some scripting.
Advanced Flight Model (AFM) and AFM+. An AFM uses multiple points of force application and calculation on the relevant flight surfaces. This simulates edge of envelope conditions well and avoids scripted behaviors as used in an SFM. This system also partially implements the aircraft's flight augmentation systems.
Professional Flight Model (PFM). This is generations beyond an AFM/AFM+ and is based upon:
* Use a wider array of wind tunnel tests CFD methods for aerodynamics parameters calculations.
* A higher level of aircraft construction details for forces calculations. This also includes such items as a realistic simulation of airflow along the airframe due to the propeller or helicopter rotor thrust.
* Realistic simulation of Flight Control, CAS and Autopilot systems.
* Realistic simulation of Hydraulics, Fuel, Electrical, Engine and other systems influence flight characteristics.
* Unprecedented access to test data packs.
External Flight Model (EFM). The EFM uses only a part of PFM - rigid body physics and contact model. What forces and movements are applied to this rigid body from aerodynamics and any other sources except the contact forces is up to EFM developer.
We really may not know for a while as it's still got about 2-3 yrs of work to get the doors open, that I know of. New games like this expect 5 yrs. AH was a exception, they had this up and running pretty darn fast. So ya never know.
I'm one turned off by strictly pacific.
