Good water is hard to do I think. Looks good in that up to the land, then not as great. Well, repeating patterns in the water kill the immersion for me too and they are there. Obviously they aren't finished with it so I'm not judging.

Repeating patterns in the landscape killed the immersion for me in Falcon 4. We're talking over 25 years ago there.

Early games/sims left objects/terrain with untextured polygons to the players imagination. I wasn't repulsed in the slightest but rather amazed at what could be done with a computer. Early attempts at texturing were mostly just plain ugly and repulsive. I preferred untextured polygons to that. We have come a long way in the last 50 years. Who knows what the next will bring.

Been a while, but I remember being really impressed with they did the water in the channel in Cliffs of Dover.
Toxic, psychotic, self-aggrandizing drama queens simply aren't worth me spending my time on.
