Re-supping
« on: May 05, 2025, 10:06:38 PM »
Probably already discussed but I wonder if a resupp sortie should be counted in total sorties.

For example, for those that care about their gv score, should they choose to do any resupp sorties, they do so knowing that their kills/damage per sortie is being diluted... and hence their vehicle score is also being eroded.

Should a player be penalized for helping a team-mate, a base or a town?

technically you still get "damage" for the amount you resup, but I would love to see resupping removed from the game and bring back the trucks, trains, and strats that attackers need to strike.

If memory serves we could resup in those days too.

Removing resupp?  No, I do not think so.  I have lost base capture because of resupping, and I have saved my base by resupping.  Just part of  the game.  At times it is the only defense asset you have when the country player numbers are out of balance or the ENY or two countries against one.

I agree with Randy, no re-supp is a game killer for me.

If resupply is so important to some of you, we should change default downtime for town buildings to 45 or 60 min.  If you choose to avoid combat in a combat game, at least your contribution could be less impactful if your choice is to hide in a nearly invisible GV.

The current resupply system in this game is almost hilarious.  It's part of the reason you have left what you have left here.  Cheesey gameplay across the game.

Keep pooping where you eat and you are only accelerating an obvious trend.

I agree with Lazerr.

All mechanics that encourage players to avoid combat should be removed or at least made significantly less effective.

I think the resupply is part of the numbers issue now. Players use to pay attention as to where the attacks were coming from and defended. But back then we had the numbers for that. Today players may be defending/attacking some place on the map and the call "White Flag" comes up and the next thing you know there is a line of MS bringing in supplies to slow/stop the attack. Its so much easier than defending, especially with the ability to hide in an M3.

I think resupply should only be allowed after you capture a base. That way your not leaving a WF base behind as you continue to advance.

With the numbers today anything that takes away fighting aircraft is hurting the game. Many times Ill log in and the only thing going on is a bunch of tanks trying to play "hide and seek".

I remember back in the day there would be a massive fight for a town. Tanks, bombers, fighters etc. I'd hide a M3 under a bridge waiting until we were in a desperate situation. The enemy would have cap over the town, enemy tanks would be in position to kill any defending tanks and the M3 was in town with troops. The enemy was sure they were going to capture the town. At that moment of desperation I'd drop a box of sups and cross my fingers that it took away the white flag. I've had the satisfaction of doing it as troops were going in for the capture.

I think back in the day it added a nice dynamic to the fight. Not sure about today with the current numbers.

One possible fix would be to disable field supplies for the M3.  That way the same spawn that is a 3 minute trip for the M3 troop carrier would be a 4.5 minute trip for a SdKfz 251 resupply.  (I think this was tried once, but don't remember the resulting effect on gameplay.)

Also, spawn points could be located for quick resupply of fields to keep the fight going, without making excessively long trips for troop carriers during a re-capture effort.  I tried to do something similar with the Northco map, but didn't think it through to re-capture.   :bhead

I started this string to discuss the negative effects that re-supping has on score.

It seems the real discussion is whether re-supping should exist at all... maybe not even to repair or re-arm a teammate?

The game is rarely simple combat anymore - it's more like gang behaviour.

So my apologies to all for getting this started.

There are no 3-minute trip for M3s.

Ok.  A 3.3 minute trip for an M3 would be a 5 minute trip for the SdKfz 251.   :D
