Watching film to find a tank

Guess I misunderstood. I thought it was a complaint about watching a video to see where a tank was hiding. Certainly doable. My apologies.

I see, apparently you can record a film and see where everyone is through playback. You could do that easily enough with a 2nd machine but what's the point?

You can't run the game and the film viewer at the same time. It would require multiple machines and an easy way to transfer the film file. Expensive and probably not very time efficient.

I havent seen any tricks to finding tanks, just comes with experience of figuring out where their spawn is, then drawing a logical driving line from there to their logical target.  Fly low and look under the trees.  Some are just impossible to see if they are in bushes that cover them. 
However, if they are attacking with 15 people I seriously doubt anyone looked at the film, that would require them to end their current sortie, go watch the film, then take off again and fly to that base.  More than likely someone just saw you.  And if you were the sole defender at the port its probably safe to assume you had eyes on the maproom, which also helps attackers to be able to find you, process of elimination of the view points.

----  Respectfully.   Game being filmed.......leave the game........watch film and see where one is sitting......then spawn back into the game and drive directly to me....no where near the base.     Its easy and many do it.   And if you need to do it,  your ( not you ) need to check your ego.

---- Could.   Would.    But again,  if you're using film to find a tank.............and especially if you're swarming a base........  using film is a sad option.

I remember having to hunt your trolling tank before, if you were no where near the base how were you defending it from 15 people?  If you were troll flashing, good riddance, we need more sportsmanship in this game, not more trolling.

There are three players I know of in the game that need no film..   Some how they can see under every tree and bush in the game in one pass.

I have heard players say if you have your setting right, at 1500 feet there is a thin line where the leaves disappear.  Never tried it so it may be just a tall tale.

auto assign has also taking it's toll on secret hiding spots.

last year AKCaine started a thread about players using a 3rd party shader program that changed the color of trees and vegetation allowing one to easily spot ground vehicles hiding. A few members of the community commented saying they were aware. I would venture to say that is the most likely scenario your talking about Randy1 but I could be wrong

This is comical.  People hiding in trees not happy with folks using game tools to find them..

Once upon a time this game used to be about combat.

Maineac you run sorties purposely going afk knowing just to flash a field while you do work related tasks.  What do you think is more sweethearty?  The guy running film or the guy with no intention of attacking, going afk for sometimes hours?

It's a close race, but the prize is still last place.

I f a gv is flashing a base for an extended period of time, I see no issue going to film to locate them. You do have to log off the game to bring the AH Film viewer up, and even if you do, that is no guarantee, you'll be able to find the gv when  you log back on.

If you do that, at least run a search pattern to look legit.

Only ever did this once after searching and searching for the Gv that was flashing a base… checked film only to find Tailspin sitting afk inside a 3 story building with a jeep…

Like…. Why? 

Naturally once I saw this I took my own jeep to said building, drove inside and unloaded .50 cals into his drivers face…

I think some are doing it just to get proxies. Great way to get kills by boring your opponent to death 
Others even admit, they do it to get someone/group of folks to wait until you get sick of searching so eventually get the base flashing for long enough, they move in unopposed.

I dont like trash talking the game but the GV game has been so "gamey" lately. Invisible GVs, Players turning down graphics, hiding in buildings and main gunning planes mid flight.
