Newbie advise
« on: May 10, 2025, 11:49:50 AM »
Hi all

I am new to this game (but not the 'genre' i used to play a 'Similar' other game). I have some Q?

How do you 'capture' a base (example Airfield)?

Please can some1 here say how to join a Clan (the exact process?. As is no Join Clan function that i can see?)

Can you upgrade weapons (.50s for example)?

Also the wiki is outdated. For one what is V1 and V2 speed of bombers (it does not say). Can any 1 update the game wiki?

To capture a field you  need to destroy most of the town associated with the field and all the guns in town, then drop 10 troops and all 10 must make it into the map room at the town

For a vehicle base or port you need all the guns down and then drop troops

Joining a squad is up to the squad. When in game click on the roster, then click the button at the top to sort by squad. Pick a player in a squad with a number of players playing, right click his name and click goto. This will put you in the area they are Playing work with them.

The planes come with the historic load out and type of ammo they came with. You have to work with what you have

Hi Patton9 and welcome!

You can capture a base by destroying the nearby town and either driving or flying 10 troops to the maproom in said town. You can ask for more details using the country radio inside the game.

AFA Clans, they're called squads here. Some existing squads are actively recruiting, some are more restricted to their current personnel. In any case you'd need an invitation to be able to join but asking is free.

The only "upgrade" option is to earn Perk Points that allow you to fly certain planes until you crash them or run out of perk points. They're not a shortcut to championship, though. A Me 262 jet can't be flown like a Brewster... The weapon options for each plane is what was used in them in WW2. For gameplay purposes the guns don't get jammed like in real life, but the velocity, bullet drop etc. are modeled quite accurately.

To capture bases you need to destroy a certain amount of buildings in the airbases town and destroy all the ai guns and use either a C47 M3 Jeep or German half track to get 10 troops into the "Map room" in the center of the town some air bases have no town and you just need to kill all the guns on the base and get the troops in to the map room

You have not be invited to a Squad to join it usually just have to ask someone

You cannot upgrade guns so all vehicles have an equal playing field but you can get "Perk points" which are points you get for killing enemy players and bombing targets the point you earn allows you to use a plane or tank that has better performance than the regular planes you can fly without perk points the planes perks planes are not a permanent unlock like in other games if you die in that plane you lose all the points you have spent on it but if you can successfully and get a kill you will keep the points you spend and add to the amount you have saved  Planeshave an ENY rating which pretty much just tells you how good a plane is the higher the ENY the "worse" the plane is the lower it is the "better"

There is a lot more to add if you need help don't hesitate to ask in game most will help you if you ask questions

V1 and V2 are irrelevant as there are no failures in the game. I don't know what VR is for bombers. Rotate at 100 and see what happens.

You can. Vehicle bases and ports only need guns down. Bail after shooting them and grab an m3 or goon to bring troops in . Some maps have fields that don't have a town and you can do it the same way.

Given no opposition, 1 person can capture any size base that has a town: de-ack, wf and run in troops within 30 mins is done-able.

Just a heads up.   With all the guns down,  the flag at a Port or V base will NOT change to white.   It never does by design

Patton,  I would be happy to sit with you at an airfield and give you a run down of things that could save you a lot of time.  One thing that helps is if you get your communication set up.  A microphone and sound will help a lot.  If you look at the bottom of Fugitive's posts you will see a link to Aces High help.  On his site he has maps that players have made of bases, towns and factories.  I also can provide you with maps that I created which are also on Fugi's site.  Some may already be on your clipboard maps.  Anyways, there is a lot to learn and again I would be happy to chat with you at a base away from the action.  Let me know.  I fly on the Knights.

Cheers and goodluck,   One-eye

Welcome!  :aok

I invite you to fly in the (and I know this is a long way out) October scenario.

Scenarios run 2 times per year, and are special events, battles themed on historical battles.  Our previous one in March was Battle of Britain.
