Moderator Abuse
« on: May 15, 2025, 04:15:59 AM »
Last night, I called out Shane on 200 for his constant negativity. Everyone knows Shane loves to berate others on 200 and it simply drags the vibe down. After watching him do it again, I finally said, 'Shane, for God’s sake, can you not be nice? The community is too small now, to be trollin. Throw some positivity out there for once."

As soon as I typed that, I thought I seen a warning pop up go by as I was typing. When I asked if that was a warning, I got slapped with a 10-minute mute. After the 10 min mute ended, I came back and said, 'I just got a 10-minute penalty for asking someone to be nice. No wonder the community is shrinking.' Bam, that earned me a two-hour mute.

This kind of abuse from anonymous moderators is unacceptable. This is not moderation....this is abuse of moderation privileges. With our online community struggling, this kind of moderation is definitely not encouraging people to stay.

Yeah, too many forum postings about this.. Take a picture and send to hitech. I agree it's ridiculous but there's nothing the community can really do about it..

For the good of the game, moderators should be active... but need to be certain when AH rules are violated. Our community is really shrinking, and we are all trying to promote our game the best we can. Being friendly during the game, for sure, is a better tactic than any other.

Let's not ignore the fact you were on my ankle for a good 10+ minutes with your bloviating while I basically ignored you as the situation (a base take that actually succeeded because rook horde - I even wtg'd it...) subsided and you just stayed on my ankle stuck in your loop.

Then you got a warning and mouthed off about it on channel - you have not learned to heed the warnings.  (I didn't get a warning,) but I also got a ten minute mute because I said you got yours for staying on my ankle too long.

Bloviate less; pontificate even less, and maybe heed the warning when a mod suggests you calm down - and calm down.

Real tired of hypocritical liars like you, capera with your claims that are simply false.

Protip: you're not gonna find the missing joy in your life on my ankle.

The hypocrisy is so entertaining.  Toxic players bickering with other toxic players about getting muted.  And then flooding the game's forums with toxicity, warning that new people might see the bad side of the game.

I guess you really don't like that I view your limited skill-set of of playing for score and how you play to that for your ego as... limited.

Case in point: your whinge about bombing stats.

It was one comment from me questioning a rook tactical decision - that's it... and then I found capera on my ankle for 10+ mins. This occurred early evening, yet it took capera 8+ hours to get around to making this post.  I think his continued pushback against the mod got him an additional timeout, I don't know.

I have to say I haven't played for a while as I got tired of the general negativity.

There are two aspects. The negatives and those who then keep banging on about the negative players. Its a joint responsibility.

Finally there is the endless talk of cheating and people hacking the game none of which I have seen proven.

I have flown with some great players none of whom were guilty of the above.

All the negs are doing is pee ing in their own sandpit then complaining it smells and no one wants to play in it.

You all know who you are when you do it.

Canned text message only..like the check 6 call and salutes...not sure why some are compelled to say anymore than that anyways..

Some obviously can't control their excitement lol

I am no longer toxic, Haggerty. Thanks for attempting to keep me labelled in a bad light.

What happened last night was not right, and if you support that kind of moderation, then you become part of the problem.

Try not to be so...'judgey' and maybe offer some maturity to this conversation.

This ^^^

If you’re worried about the game this is the last thing you want to do, both of yas.

That said, stop blaming Mods who are tasked with your behavior.

Pot meet kettle.

I’ve seen you troll shane almost nightly. So when you blame a mod consider its an ongoing behavior, not a single incident. Taking this long to slap a mute (wrist smacking) has gone beyond considerate, way beyond fair. Trust me, there is always more to a story beyond accusations.

Frankly, Shane has been mild compared to past times.

Some of ya constantly test mods to find the limit. Now you know where the white line is. They have been more lenient than me.

Intensional room disruption and scrolling the text buffer with trolling is worthy of a wakeup call.

Just FYI
Usually a situation has been conversed between mods before action is taken. It can be mire than one mod calling it, or HT himself. So to blame one is kinda moot. Many times like a jury. It can be rare a mod acts on their own. This is why it should be directed to HTC, not bbs.

Do not argue with a mod action. It will only get worse.

As someone involved said to me sniveling sbout HOs “… its ok to be cool”

I get the suggestion to go to HiTech, but it’s a dead end. He knows exactly what his moderators are doing and chooses not to act. I’ve spoken with him about this before, and he was very clear: his mods will not tolerate being questioned. That’s why I’m bringing it up here—because this is our community. The MA is our playground, so to speak. If we want to keep it from completely dying, we need to deal with the negativity ourselves.

Yeah, yeah, I get it—my past behaviour hasn’t exactly been stellar. But I’ve owned that, and I’ve worked to fix it. I’m not here pointing fingers to stir the pot. My reason for bringing this up is simple: to raise awareness about something that absolutely will drive players away if it keeps going unchecked. And the worst part? It’s so unnecessary. If the moderator had actually been doing thier job last night, Shane would’ve been warned to stop berating other players for their game play. But the mod sat silent. That’s the way it goes with these mods—if they like you, you can say just about anything. But if they don’t, you get little to no leeway. I’ve experienced this firsthand, time and time again.

So here we are. HiTech’s made his position clear—this isn’t going to get fixed from the top. That means it’s on us, the players who actually care about this sim. If we want the MA to survive, if we want new players to stick around and old ones to stay, we need to check the toxicity ourselves. Enough of the ego trips, the cheap shots, and the gate keeping. Time to get back to flying, fighting, and having fun. That’s what keeps this place alive.
