I don't get. He chopped the wood with a knife but then used a small ax as a hammer. Why not use that to chop the wood.

Also why did he hang it in the air? Was he making an "air" b&b?

He's made other videos. Some of ground based shelters. That was in the wetlands. Shelter from flooding.

Hanging high in the air used to be a common method in the wilderness for keeping food away from animals like bears and foxes. A guy who uses a knife instead of an axe is tender meat for grizzlies...
