Rudder peds not working in-game
« on: May 24, 2025, 10:58:46 AM »
My Saitek peds were functional the other day. Today they're not functional. They show up and display proper input in Windows calibration window, and they show up in controller window with the proper Rudder (Yaw) assignment but there's no value (#'s) and nothing happens when I slide them back & forth. What am I missing?
Tnx!  :salute

Possibly a spring inside the rudder that helps it self-center broke?  My TM pedals stopped working and it took me a min to figure why. The replacement was easy...

Just a thought to check on that possibility. (it's probably something else, tho')    Do you also have a twisty stick? Maybe the primary yaw function got reverted to it?

USB IDs can change if you move stuff around. If they are working in windows then maybe they are reassigned in AH. If you move them you should see something changing in AH.

I setup a USB hub. Some sticks won’t function right, like spikes, due to lacking power from a PC USB. Saitek LEDs like on the x52 are power hogs.

ALSO, as stated, changing USB ports can have negative effects. Same can happen to headsets, In my USB hub every connection has it’s designated port with labels. If I unplug and replug to same port, no issues.

I dudn’t read the whole thread, dies it show in windows, devices?

They and my other HOTAS stuff are powered with an USB hub. The cable to the computer hasn't changed positions. I've tried a different input jack on the hub; no help.

The Saitek spring is good.

Do they work properly in the windows game controller window?

Can you calibrate them there?

Maybe you have already answered that..

What happens if you just hook up the pedals and nothing else without the USB hub?

What OS are you using?

Can you try another USB cable, if you haven’t already?

Again, whatever OS, check device manager and see if it shows up there. If so we beed to look  forward into Windows settings then AH.

Yes, they appeared normal in Windows calibration mode.

They also appeared normal in AH joystick controller window as well. The left side Controller Input showed as Rudder, and Mode 1 Function showed as Analog Yaw (Rudders). The number value on the left is 0  vs xxxxxx. ...mid way point is what it should read.

I dug up a previous Settings folder, copy & pasted and am back to normal. Not sure what started this but it's now resolved.

I was going to suggest that next, wtg.

AH has a glitch somewhere, once in a great while loses peripheral device type data. Maybe not finished writing to it on shutdown, if it does. <shrug>

Keeping a backup of settings folder is wise. I backup a few folders. Maps, sights etc.

I think others, more knowledgeable, have solved your problem.  I find that I have to unplug, then replug, my rudders, throttle and joystick (and VR device) every time I log on for the evening.  Suspect it has something to do with the computer's sleep mode, but I've got the prep down to a science.

From my page

You can try this.

Disable Universal Serial Bus Controllers sleep mode

How to disable USB ports from automatically entering sleep mode on Windows. When the USB port enters sleep mode, it can cause a peripheral to “time out” and become unresponsive to the operating system.

1) Right Click the Start Menu Icon on lower left of screen. Select Device Manager to open it.

2) Scroll to the bottom and click the arrow next to Universal Serial Bus Controllers to expand the list.

3) Right click each item that has HUB in it and select Properties

4) Click the Power Management tab.

5) Make sure the Allow computer to turn off this device to save power box is unchecked on all HUBs that allow it.

6) Click OK to close the window.
