Tacview ?
« on: May 27, 2025, 09:38:45 AM »
Is there any possibility this can be incorporated in AH?

It creates a level of reality amid all the allegations maybe or just more data to argue over  :headscratch:

I remember a wire view playback tool for Airwarrior long ago. I think Hitech created that.

The AH playback gives you most of the same functionality as Tacview I think. Apart from the server perspective of all the data. Tacview won't give you that either unless you run it on the server host for whatever game.

With all due respect, I would say Tacview is on quite anthor level than the native AH viewer.

ACMI is a standard accepted format.  I wouldn't say replace the AH viewer, but it would be nice to support an export to ACMI capability.

Not just for Tacview, but who know what else it might be able to consume that data.

Seems like every sim should support at least an export to ACMI.  IMHO.

I wonder if this sort of thing could put cheating accusations to the proof ?

I'm sure HT has sufficient telemetry in the AH file to catch that if its real.  That is why the first course of action should always be to send in the film.

But as a customer facing tool, I think Tacview would prove superior. And is that really part of HTC's core competency?

If there is a better tool out there for that that someone else will develop and maintain, leverage that free labor and concentrate on the simulation itself and just focus on that.

Last time I tried the AH Viewer I remember it being very  ganky and buggy.  And I doubt there will ever be anymore real work done on it.  Simply export the acmi out of it and let others focus on that value.

If you're talking AH then I suspect hitech has the data needed for that determination and I know he is the only one to make that determination. I think it's against the rules here to discuss cheating in detail but should be reported directly.

I remember the original Falcon 3.0 used to export acmi back in the early 90's.

Tacview also has a whole 3rd party plugin architecture so other could tack on all kinds of other capabilities independently developed.

Tacview will have an impact on performance though. If you find your performance lacking disable it. I turn it on now only when I think I'll want to analyze a flight.

But having ACMI as an export wouldn't have to happen during gameplay.  You could record in native AH format for all the secret telemetry in there that HT wants, but outside the sim, out of band, you would run an exporter on the AH file to export a scrubbed version of just the non-proprietary acmi portion of the data.

So that would not effect performance anymore than current AH film recorder which I never noticed being a load.

But given the native format probably has classified anti-cheat info embedded that only HTC understands, that should be the raw dump, IMHO.

In my experience, those accusers are almost never interested in any facts anyway. So: No.

90% of the “cheat” accusations are purely habit to just say it no less than once per night. It’s kind of a running joke in MA prime time. They usually don’t actually mean it.

Almost every game has cheating accusation, but they do have negative results, even in jest.

Sims like DCS, not so much, they don’t have enough fights to accuse anyone of anything.  Chances are non-existent. Of course, your AI enemy could be trained to make the call amd add some excitement to a dead horse. A decent distraction from bugs.

Some people really resent you trying to cloud the issues with facts.  :rofl

Accusations that make some feel better about their own failures are usually more emotionally satisfying than facing facts.

Human nature I suppose.
