Individual Player Airfield Server

This would be an additional feature to the game.  Each player would be given an airfield to customize through progress in the Main Arena.  This would be used for displaying creative design to other players.  This would be a place for players to compete in best layouts.

The server map would be a large-scale water map with isolated islands to contain the airfields.  One island per player airfield would be the overall design.  Due to the scale of the map, there would be a dot command to visit another player's island airfield. 

Each island airfield would be set up based on click and drag tools for customizing and expansion. 

Initial airfield would be a small length dirt runway, small aircraft net cover, aircraft parking spot, shack for control tower, port situated nearby on coast of island, and single ack gun, fuel can area, ammo shack, tent for troops, and a radar truck.  Upgrades to the airfield would be accomplished through specific tasks in the MA. 

Suggestions for the types of upgrades:

Runways - surface type, length, connected taxiways, number of runways
Hangar - size, material, type of specific aircraft/ vehicle, number of hangars
Pads - size, surface type, coverings, number of pads
Control Tower - height, size, control room
Port - docks for type of ship, fleet patrolling around island, number of ships
Guns - number of guns for airfield and port
Fuel - storage type of buildings, number of fuel storage structures
Ammo - storage type of buildings, number of ammo storage structures
Troops - housing types of buildings, number of housing structures
Radar - type, height, size
Support Facilities - airfield HQ, operations, administration, maintenance, supply, O'club, rec hall, mess hall, chapel, library etc...
Expansion - ground area to accommodate more structures

Suggestions for types of tasks:

number of sortie types, number of hours flown, number of victories, number and type of ground targets destroyed, number of resupply runs and resupplied objects

Other customization:

player name on flag, paint scheme for structures, road between airfield and port etc...


Players will have the capability to fly aircraft and land at other airfields should they choose.  They will also be able to use vox and text with each other for communication.  Non-subscribers will get access to look only and communicate with subscription players.  Only subscription players receive their own private island.

I believe this might be an original idea. :x

I don’t think that kind of editing can take place.
500+ islands?

Ideas are always good, some don’t work, a few may. Nothing wrong with creative thinking.

Some are stuck on 1-2 concepts

All airfields/towns/depots and such are embedded into the map. Once compiled they are set, nothing can change on them. Imagine the amount of coading to change that! Probably add a new graphics engine more easily.

If we are dreaming wild dreams, I'd like to see the old towns and airfields come back. Add a placeholder in the maps for the town/fields instead of hard coad them. Then setup a randomizer to place one of the 3 different towns into the town place holders and the same for the fields. Of course the old town and field sets would have to be cleaned up but that would be fun! Youd never know what the town/field would look like until you got there.... or scouted it out. It would add some "nostalgia", unpredictability, and fun. Again, the coading might be a nightmare.

Back in 2022 after a loooooong break from 2010. Old name Ratpack, same for the BBS.

Squad I did the most tours with were the Excaliburs then The 172nd Rabid Dogs. Still trying to talk Illigaf, Coola, Oldman22, and Joecrow into coming back instead of being boring old farts!

Why would the server be set up using existing coding?  Don't you think the game developer could create something more flexible?

Pretty sure if a basic dar change is off the table..this level of effort isn't even in the room..

 :confused:  That's a lot of stuff. It's like putting another game within the game already here. Fun ideas but not so realistic. I've seen other games that do the Individual Player Servers, and they never seem to do that well for some reason. Even the servers on DCS doesn't draw more of a crowd than the MA here.
