The problem is if they are in a hospital, they are required to donate a certain percentage of their services for free. Hospitals are required to cover a certain percentage of people for free. It is not those of use who work and pay the bills. Visit an Emergency Room. Most in there have colds and such and are there using it as a free doctors office. Just clogging the system.
This is why you see so many clinics and MRI type testing facilities around hospitals. Since they are not IN the hospital, they are not required to donate their time. It is at these places you can get cheaper tests paying cash than you can if you use your insurance.... much cheaper.
Ahh very good point indeed. I always thought having care facilities where you can pay $50 a month if you want future services would be far far more beneficial than this stupid insurance crap we have to deal with. Even paying the hospital directly to pay off a major procedure would be technically cheaper probably, and not paid forever. Insurance probably has usefulness, but it seems to mostly be a middle man racket designed to keep prices exorbitantly high while some still pay $400+ a month with no services at all, and then when you do need it, they dont even cover what you need, or call getting a shot surgery so you dont get the deductible. All around stupid, but they've gamed it this way because if you can control health, you can control a population
