ROE forced the dogfight in many instances. Not the capability of the stand off weapons. The Phoenix carried by the F-14 could really reach out and touch someone.

AI drones. AI missiles. The better technology and smarter AI wins. Humans are relegated to making policy. For now.

Yes it's over...AI swarm drones will take it's place..

I think drones have altered what we should expect out of our airforces today..

They've claimed that ever since Korea.

If RoE requires visual ID confirmation, it's not over.

That's were AI comes in...no human needed

There are no real wars anymore,  just one side pounding the crap out of the otherside until something changes...

If a real war started, the globe would be on fire in a month..

Many are overestimating AI’s abilities and ignoring the possibility that AI will not react to finding it has been programmed with an agenda of lies.

the AI can be programmed to go to target area A and kill anything that moves, either the objective or civilian. It will not know any better and will do so without mercy.

How could a human pilot hope to dogfight a remotely piloted drone capable of sustaining 20 G maneuvers? The drones could also be semi or fully autonomous. The remote pilots could be nearby or thousands of miles away. Many ways to provide the remote control links and redundancy no doubt a consideration.

How about a dozen drones?

War will be interesting when they can built 1000's of dronesfor thecpst of one aircraft...no airbase needed, just a semi trailer filled with them..

It will allow 3rd world crap holes to get a better even footing against much larger richer countries...

AI will not have any morals but will be the perfect soldier executing orders without thought or delay... :salute

Many will be fire and forget as it will know what window to fly through and explode and at what time...:aok

Imagine if you started a war, you were blown up within 24hrs?

Not sure why the ones who start these wars aren't the 1st to die in them...

Wasn't really possible before but much more possible now..

There was a time when kings rode into battle with their armies. It did nothing to prevent war, or even slow it.

Hmmm, I seem to recall several Kings in the middle ages that were killed in battle, then there were the battles in Britain with the Vikings and again several kings were killed. Now if you are referring contemporary National leaders (Kings), I would agree.

In the end AI is artificial and somewhere requires actual intelligence to run it.
