Will an old dk2 still work?
« on: Yesterday at 03:42:38 AM »
I recently acquired a DK2 set and would rather like to get it working for aces high.
I set it all up using the meta link software and got it working ok where I can see a grey lined background but when I then run aces high (non steam) I just get a message saying no apps are supported any more! (Or words to that effect). Is there any way to get it to still work?

It should still work as long as you have the hardware to push it.

For the game, start "meta quest link" software and headset.

select quest link and make sure it is connected

Then remove headset start the DX11 version of the game (default version) and click the popup asking if you want to use the VR headset

Put the headset and the game should load.

ow all this depends on if your computer is strong enough to run it, your cables are, the DK2 works with the quest link software and so on.

Good luck!

I don’t recall seeing a pop up asking if I want to use VR. Is that a different exe start file? Can you show me exe used or a screen grab of it please?

Right click the AH icon and select "properties". When that window opens the highlighted address should have the "aceshigh11.exe" at the end. If it says "aceshigh9.exe" that is the problem. Just change the 9 to an 11 and try it again.

Apologies for being a potential pain...
I have the DK2 working now (using the DX11 exe) and can get the aces high loading screen but how do I select a menu option while wearing the headset.
I dont have a hand controller and teres no volume controls on the headset.
I have connected my usual CH hotas setup but the fire button does nothing as well. Some of the other hotas buttons do 'something' like the esc removes the menu box and view controls change the view but I cant find a control that actually clicks a meny option when I point the viewing dot onto it?
Any ideas please?

I use the left mouse button when I  point the vr dot on something..

I have to have the clipboard up to get the mouse dot..

When the clipboard is open you will have a small white ball floating out in front of you, this is your mouse pointer. You move it by moving your head, its like it is tied to your nose. Put the ball on the control/button you want to active and click the left mouse button. First thing I did was to change one of the hat switches to a "left mouse click" and a "right mouse click". I hated clearing my desk off trying to find the mouse to click it.

Another option is to use "Voice Attack". It is a free (for 10 commands, $10 for unlimited commands) program that you can use to use voice commands to activate buttons. So you could program it so when you say "Left click" it would switch the left click button for you. Check out the "Help Page" in my signature below. It has a full write up on the program along with a bunch of other helpful things for the game.
