Transfer settings to new computer
« on: September 19, 2025, 07:08:46 PM »
Purchased a new computer and downloaded the game.

When transferring the settings over nothing changes.

I noticed the game is installed in the Hitech Creations, Aces High 3 folder on the old computer but it's in the following after downloading onto the new computer:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Aces High III

Bit stumped on what to do. Really would like to transfer the settings over instead of starting from scratch.

Appreciate any help.

You need the copy Settings folder from the old machine and copy and paste to Hitech Creations\Aces High III folder to over-write the existing Settings folder. Basically no matter where the new settings folder is you want to over-write that folder with the old machine copy.. You're using Steam which could be different location than the stand alone version.
It's also helpful to do the same with Maps and Skins

The "C:\Hitech Creations\Aces High III" folder is the folder you use if you are running the game through the aces high setup.

If you are starting the game through steam, then you need to use the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Aces High III

As I have said before, steam and the aces high main portal are two separate entities. You can not log into the same account using the other entry.

So if you open the game from your desktop use the first address, if you have to load steam to start the game use the second address.

That's what's odd. I deleted the game and re downloaded it from the hitech creations site. I just clicked the download link, curious to see where the game would install, and it wanted to install in the steam directory again. For whatever reason the hitech creations folder is not there.

Going to delete the game and try again. Appreciate you gents being so helpful.

That is odd. On a fresh DL from HTC it should install to C:\Hitech Creations\Aces High III. Good luck with the new install!

Thanks, it's downloading to the hitech folder this time. Maybe I didn't delete the steam file last time?  :uhoh

Trying cleaning the registry before installing a different version. (free version of Ccleaner does that)
Apps will leave a trace of the last place installed, usually in the registry.
Or custom install and direct it to install Programs folder.

I don't see a HTC folder in Appsdata that would hold that.

I think I'm losing it.  :headscratch:

The game downloaded to C:\Hitech Creations\Aces High III

I copied the settings from the old computer and then overwrote the file settings on the new computer but the settings are not changing.

Any idea why?

If you are dropping the saved folder into the right spot and its not changing, my guess is the saved folder is an original unedited folder.

Hmmmmm, the settings folder was copied straight from the old computer that had no issues. Thanks for the help Fugi.
