Just noticed he's singing into a 414  condenser mic designed for things like overhead for cymbols, video prop my guess.

Smoothest Guitar change. String break. Gtr tech doesn't waste time, Stevie doesn't lose place in song.

This is such a legendary moment. He adjusts to missing a string on the fly with not even a pause and makes the guitar swap super smooth.

SRV was the man.

SRV was the man.

This is a great example, of if that Gtr tech wasn't watching the exact second SRV turned his head towards him,... he would have missed the signal, maybe fired. He either saw or someone on comm told him it was broke, get a gtr rdy.

We do have body language signals we work out with the artist. "If I turn around to look at you, come swap it". You could see SRV trusted it was coming. Think about this, the pick-up volume knobs on the gtr also had to be set exact as the damaged one. Ya can't blue print this stuff.

What SRV did was some multi-tasking skill. He has to think about how to disconnect strap and cable, hold the cable for the next gtr, sing the verse, and remember where to pick up back in the song. Perfect timing.

I prefer NOT to embed the youtube videos. Going to the page gives me the chance to click the like and add a comment to the video without any hassle.

Totally get that on private owned videos, I question YT counts embedded. Nit sure I’ll embed future vids of mine.

However, these are just music files. Less clcks.

Thread is too long to look and frankly, I don't care but there needs to be some Tom Petty in here. His music is so intertwined with my youth that sometimes I forget what a big influence the tunes had on me.

By perusing this thread it's pretty easy to see "what happened" to rock music...  you all got old.  There's PLENTY of great rock music being created today, it just doesn't remind you of when you still had hair.

There is some good new rock. But if you watch the first videos you should understand its not produced/mixed nor distributed the same. You have to dig for it.

And yes much here is of our youth, but its all still popular today. Most new stuff has little staying power on charts.

I still have plenty of hair :)
