Pick your rv well as most if not all are issues waiting to happen..

See youtube for horrific experiences with the rv and dealing with the dealer/ manufacturer...

Seems qa was bad before but went to total hell since covid when everyone wanted to hit the road in them..prices went crazy then too...

They are built to deteriorate requiring constant upkeep and maintenance...

Pulling them down the road expedites the problems as they shake rattle and roll..

My experience is from living in our new old stock never used 36ft 2019 forest river 298RLC Palomino Columbus the last year while helping the aging in-laws..

We've made it just about every month for 10 to 25 days at a stretch..it's been quite the experience..I just didn't know how much work they take just to keep them working safely and properly..

It does beat sleeping in the in-laws spare room with everything that goes with that lol...

The father in law pulled it up to his property using his ram dually...

We don't plan to move and use it anywhere else...

Yeah, the utter lack of quality and durability is one reason I haven't really even considered buying one. And I don't need anything high maintenance, either.

Sadly one of these will be required if you use it with any regularity..

I figure IF you get a good one, AND you take good care of it, you might be okay, as you are. However, I've seen so many get junk, falling apart before they even make three trips, when I know they aren't that careless or incompetent, that it gives me serious pause.

Do you store your rv indoors when not in use?

Letting one sit in a wide open field with little pm for 5 years is asking for issues...ask me how I know..

I can see buying one as one didn't know any better but unless you got the one in a million not stapled together by Larry the speed freak with his new staple gun, I can't see many making that same mistake twice..not like they are inexpensive...

Youtube has had to affect that industries bottom line with its numerous rv horror stories..

This is true with anything. I have seen the same with cars and trucks. Even homes from some builders are more suspect than others.

One of the worst culprits in RVs is incorrect plumbing. Most RVs are built to be light and some are better at that than others also. In the end you can have issues with a low end or high end unit. If you are buying new... you will be working out any bugs.

That is my only issue with buying new.

HAHA... I am used to doing maintenance.... home, vehicles, tractors, RV, trailers.... you  name it....  all my life. If you get a lemon it can be miserable. If you buy new... a lemon can mean you have an out.
Often now, I'll have one of the employees change oil or grease bearings.

I grew up in Texas and camped out many times all around north Texas. They're here for sure but I never saw one.

I did get bitten by a Brown Recluse while camping in Arkansas.

I don't remember being harmed by, or in fear off the wildlife. Once in my youth, a large water moccasin swam directly at me, for about 60' or so, mouth open. I was not really scared, I hoped he'd just quit. He didn't, that was his final error, a medium powered carbine into his open mouth resolved the issue. I was surprised the shot was that accurate, I was point shooting.

As far as RV's go, I feel confident in saying that, on the whole, they're significantly and consistently of poorer quality than the vast majority of regular motor vehicles manufactured today. And I say that as a professional in the business, with 40 plus years experience, who owns nothing newer than twenty model years old, save one Harley Davidson, a CVO Pro Street Breakout. When we raced, we had several different RV's we lived at the track in. Despite some costing well over $300,000, none were of exceptional quality. Or even truly good quality.
