Smoked twenty years, took chantix three times before it finally worked. I haven’t had a cigarette in 12 years.
Back in 2022 after a loooooong break from 2010. Old name Ratpack, same for the BBS.

Squad I did the most tours with were the Excaliburs then The 172nd Rabid Dogs. Still trying to talk Illigaf, Coola, Oldman22, and Joecrow into coming back instead of being boring old farts!

I got colon cancer. The Dr. said colon cancer is closely associated with smoking. I don't smoke any more. I used Chantix and another drug to kick the habit. I have never felt better! When I smoked nothing got done. After I quit, my dishes are done, yard mowed, toilets clean, laundry done, bed made, and the list goes on. One person joked that I replaced smoking with OCD. Another pointed out that smoking is OCD. If you smoke you are not well though, you may think you are.

Last thing, Colon Cancer is not fun!

If you're smoking weed, beware screens.

A stainless screen will become hexzavalent chromium and you don't want that in your lungs.

I quit smoking for 4.5 years, it was great and all, but then I started living too long. Started again.
And I don't know much, but I do know this. With a golden heart comes a rebel fist.

Sad fact is one will never quit unless they come to terms that they want to quit.

I have smoked for 30 years and though during that time, if I was able to be lazy and take a magic pill to cure my cravings, I probably would of went along with it but never made a serious effort to quit during that time.

I quit for 2 years from 2016-2018 then made the mistake of having special occasion cigars then go back to full blown usage. I quit again for about a year and a half ago and still smoke free. I have come to terms that its just not an option anymore. I suffer from high BP , extreme sleep apnea (I stopped breathing about 120 times per hour in my sleep). Happy to say that even when surrounded by smokers, I have no urge to go back and yes, I look and feel much better.

Quit about 30 years ago.   Best thing I ever did.

Cold turkey worked for me after I realized I need to watch for brain lies like, "I can just smoke one to make me feel better."

Yeppers. On the other hand, I'm not going to tell anyone to stop smoking.

I don't believe the idea of increasing cigarette prices is to stop smoking. If that is true, then the governments must want us to quit working.

Yeah, I get it man. I was just diving a bit deeper on the costs of smoking no one thinks about., like medical bills, lost wages and quality time in general.
The sticker shock of the cigarettes hit me years ago when a pack of Marlboros went from .50 to 1.00. Now, saw the other day a pack of Marlboros was over 10 bucks a pack!
I did the roll your own thing for a few years, up until that doubled in price too. What used to cost 10 bucks for a big bag of tobacco is now 25 or 30 bucks a bag. Getting up every morning and rolling 40 cigarettes became nothing but a big hassle, and not worth the time to me anymore.
Now I just go across states lines and get cheap smokes for 40 bucks a cartoon, which is not much more expensive than if I still rolled my own.  :salute

My wife's parents and 4 brothers all died from cancer. All but 1 used tobacco. She has a younger sister left who smokes and has lung cancer. I don't like those odds.
