ZE, the most common VR today is Quest 3.  You will most likely have to buy optional equipment for extended use time and or comfort.

More expensive is the Pimax Crystal light.  Glass lenses, poor audio but better clarity.  Has been know to  have QC issues at times.  Look at the below post on AH.

I have not heard of anyone on AH using the PC PSVR2 by Playstation.  You have to buy a separate PC adaptor, I think.  Better color but falls short of the quest 3 and Pimax in clarity.

All of these will be an upgrade to the Rift S.

I was getting ready to buy a new VR as well but a couple skin cancer removal on my head has postponed that for a couple of weeks.

Quest 3 is going on sale.  Pimax has a couple of bundled packages.  Good time to buy during black Friday sales

My vote is the Quest 3, it has pancake lenses which make it more compact and has a wider field of view. If you're budget constrained the 3S is a good choice.

I would recommend getting the "KIWI design Link Cable with Charging" with either headset as it keeps the headset charged while playing.

Seems to be two threads going on the same subject so I'l put this here to in case it helps:

From what I've seen the "upgrades" from the quest 2 to the 3 don't affect how it looks in sims. Resolution and lenses are the same from what I've read. That said I got a used quest 2 without controllers on ebay that works fine for $50.

If it was me, I would either buy a used quest 2 for $50 or I'd buy the Crystal light. The base model is only $100 more then the Quest 3 and the specs are much better. Just be aware that the $599 version doesn't come with the controllers. (which I don't use so I don't care)

Curious, can you compare the Pimax's weight to that of the Quest 2 in terms of how it feels on the head? I bought a battery pack which sort of helped to distribute the weight a bit more, but it is still relieving to take it off after an hour or two. Just curious.

I only noticed the weight of either during scenarios as they last several hours..

Daily evening use is not an issue as I am only on for an hour..

I wear glasses under both so I use padding of one sort or another to create additional space which pushes the lenses out slightly farther then someone who wears it as close as possible so there is that..

I don't use a battery with the quest2, I use a usb-c cable to connect to the laptop and also charge it separately occasionally..

Between the 2 I find the pimax a much clearer and more comfortable experience..
