Multiple accounts
« on: Yesterday at 09:25:19 PM »
Why are we allowing this to happen, is it actually not against the rules?  While I dont have anything against people like Finetime, the massive advantage he gets from having multiple accounts doing exactly as he wants them to do is drastic.  Do we really want the game to turn into clone wars?  Now we have others doing similar stuff, with multiple accounts that have little care at all about the integrity of the game, mass bailing at the sight of enemies.  The latest one is obviously testing dual boxing or AI automation, running two sets of bombers in perfect unison.  Do we want to wait until HQs are on constant downtime before we act?  Are we ok with having teams shut down for entire days because someone was willing to pay $60 a month for 4 accounts?

With absentee ownership, the player base would be the one to request changes if things are getting bad enough.

The game does provide mechanics to slave other bomber groups the a "lead" bomber group to mimic the huge bomber groups during the war, so not an issue.

Multiple accounts has always been OKed by Hitech as long as they are on the same team when flown at the same time, much like finetime and Ms finetime.

No, it is not.

And what is the difference between one player controlling two formations of bombers, or father and son teaming up? If anything, it's basically easier engaging the single guy controlling multiple planes. And for the bailing, that's an old issue, not limited to multi account players per se. It always sucks, no matter by whom.

Actually automating stuff is a different thing, most games I know don't allow that.

Precisely. 20 years ago, my brother Flayed1 and I would either set up both PCs at his house or mine across the way on the family farm, enjoy some adult beverages, and we'd fly bomber missions and such. Worked fine as long as the "cup & string" rural dial-up could tolerate it. Man, I miss those days.

People playing together is not the same as one person controlling multiple accounts.  You are less likely to find another human to do tons of mule or grunt work than a nameless extra account.  Even playing with friends and family requires levels of coordination.

I personally see no issue with this as long as all accounts are logged into one side.
In all the time I have spent flying with FT, I have never seen him intentionally bomb and bail to avoid any type of combat but in fact will stick with empty buffs just to shoot you down.

In addition to making sure all the accounts of a household are on the same side when playing, it would also be nice to ensure all accounts of a household share the same side-switch cool-down period.

So a user can't use multiple accounts to switch sides before their cool-down should allow.

Yeah, usually, when engaging FT and MS FT, I watch for which set of buffs is on a bomb run to town, and engage it close to the drop point (which is fairly standard, obviously) if I have to. But I much prefer to engage the other flight of buffs that he is not in active control of during the window he is on the bomb run. My survivability against his buffs has increased immensely.

Most of my kills on him are actually from him bailing.  If he has already WF the town and strafed the guns down he will bail.  I'll attack him while he is shooting guns, but after that it's not worth it.  90% of the time my pilot is shot by the first ping.  I'll keep an eye out for his troops while he chases me around.  Once he realizes Im not going to engage his bombers he bails to get a new set or try a different base.  I can avoid his shots if im porpoising but that takes away my ability to shoot back.  I'll bait his shots with that if I know someone else is going to make a run on him.  As soon as your plane flies straight for the length of time it takes a .50 to travel you are dead.
He wouldnt be able to train a friend or family member to have his skills, imagine if he gets a good paying job and starts a train of 10 sets of bombers all with insta kill gunners.
You can have an army of accounts doing work for you, and if you are at prime time you have one or two people defending.
