To be fair to Torque, that last time I met up with him (and RWY, and Citabria) he actually was flying as if he wanted to get home alive.  I can't recall one HO from him that night.  In fact, those bish were doing some fine teamwork, albeit they had alt most of the time.

this doesnt follow the original post but I have to ask. Why does flying a F4U-1C make a person a Dweeb, unless your a toejam hot 1C flyer in which case deference is shown and honors showered?  Is there some double secret standard stuff going on?

Just take up a 205 and go 1c hunting. Once you get it through your head that you cant HO them. They start droppin like flys. 205 does everything else better.

I've flown with most of the above people, Apache is good, and fun to fly with.... been killed by torque and had fun exchange in buffer with him, Dnil was good stick and came to the defense of comrade... Lord HaHa and I had a great day in WB a million years ago.... Ram,best stick I know without a stick... Hell, I've had fun flyin with everyone.. why do we keep throwing these slurs around..... as for Hog... even I can either avoid or kill them and I suck... The better players are the ones that do most of the complaining.... I'm confused

Again, I think most want to keep the 1C and its guns, at least by poll that was the tally.  I believe most want a historical arena, or RPS, where planes can be competitive within their respective time frame.  I believe its an arena issue, not a specific plane issue.

GATT has 14 kills and has been killed 7 times in the C.205 against the F4U-1C

I think that more than half of the times it was the mighty Torque. I've been shot down by him even during a deck-turning-fight <S>

Easymo is right, if you are a decent pilot and avoid the HO you *can* win the dogfight.

Honestly, I dont like dedicated-vultures and I would like to see an RPS with planes matched historically. <S> to all my foes.
"And one of the finest aircraft I ever flew was the Macchi C.205. Oh, beautiful. And here you had the perfect combination of italian styling and german engineering .... it really was a delight to fly ... and we did tests on it and were most impressed." - Captain Eric Brown

A few snipped quotes from StSanta's post:

Quote - "His opinion is that the current state in MA with quakers flying cannon hogs or people just generally going on kamikaze hunt is *not* worth his $30. WTF is wrong with those who criticize him for having an opinion other than their own?"

The *only* "opinion" he expressed in this thread (and later edited out) was that AH wasn't worth it.

Quote - "Will this opinion piss you guys off too? or is it ok because it matches your own?"

What "opinion" are you meaning? Is "Finally done with this cya guys" an opinion?

Quote - "Note, just talking to the people who come down guns blazing when a fellow pilot says his goodbye and offers his opinion/explanation for why he's leaving."

The only explanation he gave, again, edited out, was that AH wasn't worth the money.

Now where is alla this F4U stuff coming from? Was that JG2 intra squad email your getting this from? Y'all are talking like we were supposed to know that he was pissed at this plane. I get the sense that he said some proper goodbyes to the squad - then came on the board to post some quick, abrasive 'ciao dudes'.

If not, I can tell you that if a long time squady of mine took off with just a "Finished with this, cya", there would be no <S> from me. Seems pretty damned disrespectful.

I think some of you guys must have read a different post/email than the rest of us. Excuse me for reacting to the one at hand here.

On the subject of "Generalizations"

On one hand the members of JG2 get upset (rightfully so) when someone characterized them as whiners about the whole -1C issue.

But then many members of JG2 jump in and immediately call every Corsair pilot in the game a "Quake Dweeb".

IMO, both sides are wrong. Personally, I wish this petty tit for tat crap would just end.

"But judging an enire squad based on what some say or do is unfair - sort of like saying "Laudrup is a great Danish soccer player, hence all Danes are great soccer players". A logical fallacy."

Nope..*all* Danes are great soccer players!..Just wait...we'll prove it next month too!

Nash,

The F4u stuff comes from the fact that dnil has hated that plane since the day it came out. It was the BIGGEST factor in his leaving, I'd bet. He almost quit then. And having met Dnil on several occasion and even going to his house, I can honestly say that you will never meet a better person than him or his wife.

Oh yeah, and any of you guys that have a problem with JG2, we would be more than happy to work you over, er... work out your troubles in the SEA   Just ask Hangtime what 2 JG2 members can do to a p51 and 3 n1k's    Sux being the biggest and the baddest

Ram.. I havent been here long but your posts seem to be about prejudiced, one sided and , what's worse, wrong, as any I've seen.   You either instigate or contribute to every whiny , crybaby "LW planes don't have a big enough advantage" thread out there.  Sheesh....

I say let all the jg2 guys fly cannon Hogs for an entire tour and we will see how they do.  Let's just see how much of an uber plane it is.   I don't think they would do that great myself.
