My views on AH after 1 year
« on: July 25, 2001, 09:27:00 PM »
I have been flying on AH for about a year now and am pleased to say that I enjoy the game immensely. I salute HiTech for all they have done in creating an online simulation that brings me hours of fun. I realize some may think the price is a bit high but I consider it an investment. I really like the fact that they are continually upgrading all aspects of the game. What they are doing is difficult, trying to please a multitude of people while at the same time managing a business.

Of course, there are problems and bugs in the game, and there always will be with such technology. However, they are continually improving the simulation. Thanks very much HiTech and company. You may be assured of my continued support.

Observations:

It is critical to join a squad for help and support. Please newbies go for training as well. Plus it’s also a lot of fun to fly squad missions. I fly with the Flying Tigers. New members are welcome. I have flown for Rooks since day 1 through good times and bad.

You can fly strat or furball. All one needs to do is study the map a bit.

I really like the jabo opportunity here in AH. My favorite is the chog for such work. I know it’s controversial, but it is really fun to do that much damage with one sortie.

The online events are a blast.

People for the most part have treated me with respect and I have returned such in kind.

I get frustrated sometimes with my own flying skills as well as those of others. I also get tired of some people taking advantage of certain bugs in the game. When I get tired I just take a break and return when I’m ready to have fun again.

I do tend to take the HO too often. Not sure why. Maybe target fixation. It’s generally a bad move but also a bad habit.

I really like hunting GVs in the air with bombs. Particularly those trying to park on spawn points. I also really like killing someone who has invested a lot of time to drive their Panzer up a hill or to a particular area. It’s rewarding to nail them just about the time they reach their destination. I know this sounds a bit cold but after all it’s simulated war.

Similar to the above point I really like shooting someone down when they don’t know I’m there and are climbing to the combat area. My most rewarding kills are when I expend the least amount of energy.

My most fun kills are when I really have to dogfight someone good or in a very superior plane.

It’s a blast to sneak a goon in on a de-acked airfield when everything else is up and no one is around.

I don’t really like vulching very much but I do it in the course of taking an airfield.

I hate attacking CVs because for me it always seems a suicide mission.

I really like to fly Zig and hblair’s missions. In fact flying a perfectly executed mission is probably one of the most fun aspects of the game.

I realize there will always be bugs, limitations, and problems with the game. However, these are generally the same for most people. I just don’t knowingly exploit such.

I do not car bomb or shoot chutes. However, I suppose others may if that’s what floats their boat and it’s legal in the game. I set my own standards for game play and don’t expect others to follow mine.

I enjoy shooting down goons, but at the same time I feel a bit sorry for the flyer because I do goon duty a lot.

Sometimes it’s fun to fight your way out of the corner and other times it is tiring.

I like the community. We need to remember sometimes this is a war simulation and often rules and chivalry get lost very quickly, as in real life. For example, a relative of mine flew fighters with Naval Air in the Pacific in WWII. They shot every Japanese chute possible as long as it would not put their planes or the mission at risk.

Those are my opinions and observations after one year on AH. Thanks for hearing me out. Most of us are having a blast I do believe.

Regards,

Rogue
