Why are people with good stable cons are punished??
« on: January 12, 2002, 05:37:06 AM »
What i today saw in the MA was ridiculous.

There was a guy, that used his bad connection to defend himself.

He was flipfloping like crazy 1st with his P38 and later with his tiffy. Or if he didnt, dam the tiffie has the best roll of all with about 0.3 sec for 180 degree.
I had so many of those "yeah i am a great ACM, but i dunno that my con sucks" folks, lately that the game experience goes to hell.

Aint there any way to compensate for that, i am tired of folks warping thorugh my tracers, avoiding every dam bullet by a mikrowarp etc.

And on the other side they get me again and again, cause i have a stable con and they wonderfully can track my flight path.

Every sword has 2 blades. You met him (warping) and lets say 20 other non-warping people. He met you (warping) and 20 other warping people. So for you 1 jumped between your tracers, for him 21.

My point is that people who say bad connect helps to get  kills shall remember than warping enemy is impacted with same ammount of warps. I do not think it makes that person happy. Of course it hurts the expirience pilot more, than it does the less expirienced one.

It's possibility of intentional warps, but this belongs to "cheating" which I believe is a minimal case in AH, and do not deserver to be spent time on. If you think its the case -- films it and send to HTC.

So, in usual case, avoid fighting with warping person, try to private him and explain him what is the problem (if he is newbie), ask to relog, suggest to check Leph page or other resources to get info on optimizing connection etc.

I was on both side of this problem. I made a rule for myself not to shot down planes which hangs in the air due to apparent warp. What is funny that almost every time I am out of a long warp its "PING-CRACK-BOOM-TOWER". And, what is typical, no one complains while on gaining end of somebody's net problems :)

What I hate is not warps but "Purpose Warp" accusations. You know after you shoot him down(never after when he gets you) he spouts that you induced warping.I had a VERY high ranked player(not whels)..) whine to me about this, saying I had started a download right after he tried to shoot me(me in Lanc, him in 109)...How you do this I don't or want to know....My point being keep you warping accusations to yourself!

People with good connections are not punished.  If you have a bad connection, EVERYBODY in the whole arena is constantly warping on your screen.  This is much worse than just encountering a single warpy enemy.

Fariz, not completely true actually, You can have bad con, so that everybody see you warp, but you don't see them warp. I experienced it a few days ago in the CT, allso experienced it the other way around when I connected with TCP connection, at those times (for about 4 weeks) I saw EVERYBODY Micro warp but nobody saw me warp, result was easy kills on me while I hardly hit anybody at all.

So the I warp everybody warps for me just isn't correct, unfortunatly :(

Sure you can have a bad con and dont see others warp.

How this goes?

You have and outgoing stream and in incoming stream of data.
If the outgoing has package losses on ur side and bad delays, you will warp for others.

If at the same time the incoming is constant, you wont see others warp.

Thats it.

And i have seen so many mikrowarps lately bye guys that than could easily track me and kill me from D600+, that i sometimes dont believe this is accidently done.

Lets say its correct 95% of time. Actually I never was in situation you described, if I warp for other people -- they warp for me. As far as I understand its the case usually.

CC fariz, most of the time, sometimes not :(

The time when I got ADSL, didn't have my ports open, I saw everybody warp, near impossible to hit, everybody who shot me down, I asked, "Do I warp?" and the answer was allways the same "not at all"

Allso, the person, can't quite remember who now, in the CT the other night, didn't see me warp, we merged and passed, I went up, saw him 1000 yards behind (I was going vertical and looked srtaight up and saw him 1000 yards away) then the warp came and he was 200 yards on my 6. Same thing happaned a few minutes later vs my 3 countrymen (who survived but saw him warp alot).
