a practise map for landing on carriers or airfields
« on: April 13, 2001, 06:30:00 PM »
Here's a small terrain that I threw together for those who may be interested in practicing landing on a aircraft carrier.  I have 2 carriers, one is moving, the other is not.  Also I have a large airfield.

The only takeoff points are from " H " which spawns you at about 3000 ft high and about 3 miles from your selected field runway.

Thanks Pokie,
I'd been restricted to landing at airfields by the Admiral due to my tendancy to end up decorating the fantail. Perhaps now I can get myself cleared for carrier landings.

Pokie,

Thnx for the terrain.  I do have a question.  It spawns at 3k; however, by the time the prop winds up and the control is gained I’ve dropped to 1k.  Is it possible for the plane to already be started and full power at that alt?  Or is it default to be zeroed?  Just wondering.

Yes Zippatuh I am aware that the plane loses alt. when it gets spawned but I thought 3000 ft was high enough for the planes so by the time you get control of them you wouldn't be to high up causing you to try and bleed off alt. and speed before reaching the runway.

I don't think I can't get the planes to spawn already at cruising speed.

But if you want I can increase the alt. to what you want and email it to you.

skernsk you extract the LANDINGS.ZIP (which contains the LANDINGS.res file) to your
HTC/Aces High/terrains.

That is where all your terrain maps go, even the ones that you automatically download when you connect online.

P.S.   No stupid question here!  Everyone had to ask this question at one time.
