What about PTO

I have noticed from the plane set and the terrains that AH seems very much inclined toward the European theater.  Why is that?  Is it interest? plane data?

The next planeset in the Combat Theater will be PTO using the Phillipines terrain.

I agree Jaus, and am currently lobbying Pyro hard for more IJN planes(especially a dive bomber and a Torpedo bomber) so that we can have a Midway or Battle of the Phillipine Sea scenario and TOD's in the future.

Lets leave the Patent and Trademark office out of this. It's bad enough having to work there.

I'm not sure why, but it seems like there aren't very many in the community who are interested in the PTO.   See my poll about Japanese fighters in the Aircraft forum--  if we get a lot of votes, maybe HTC will give us some more Japanese planes!

Not to take anything away from the Luftwaffe, but there is a lot of variety to be had in the PTO - combatants included the USN, USAAF, British, Dutch, RAAF, RNZAF, and the IJN and IJAAF.    Where the Germans concentrated on refining the basic design of two airframes (Me109 and FW190) for the most part, the Japanese produced a number of different designs that included lightweight dogfighters to fast-climbing, powerfully-armed interceptors.

Maybe the lack of interest has to do with the Japanese air arm's relatively poor showing in combat from mid-war to the end?   But I think this poor showing was primarily due to training deficiencies and other factors that would not be represented in AH - so in the MA, the late-war Japanese designs should give a very good account of themselves (notice how well the N1K2 does).

I'm still hopeful for more Japanese planes beyond the Ki.67, which is certainly a welcome addition to the Japanese hangar.

Please keep up your lobbying, banana!

The PTO would be a map full of many tiny islands seperated by long distance.  I dont think it really lends itself well to our game, unless it held a battle in a greatly expanded map of just a few island very close together and many airbases crammed on those islands.

The Soloman Islands might be perfect for AH (scaled of course).  Different islands with airfields, a greater emphasis on CV operations. I think it would be a nice change of pace.

I've always thought the CVs are one of AHs strong points, but inevitably they can easily be sidelined in the ETO. They also really come into their own for events as opposed to MA play.

Just another reason why a strong PTO planeset would be great to see. Soloman islands, or operation Cartwheel would be awesome.

Yes, I really want HTC to add Japanese Type 96 Rice Paper Bombers and Type 46.7 Flying Tinderbox Fighters to the game so I can shoot them down.

Seriously, I would like the PTO set to be expanded, and yes, that includes more IJN and IJA planes, along with USN planes like the F4F and SBD (and yes, we do need them if the emphasis is turnng more early war, otherwise, the much despised US planes will all be late war - which I can deal with, but not some other people around here).
