I bought a TV superscan2 by ads yesterday. I have a 43" Sony projection TV. I was able to run it at 1024 by 768. Problem:it just isn't as good as a monitor.

Question: Is anyone out there trying to do this same thing? What equipment are you using? How is your image compared to the monitor image?

Really depends on the TV. Have you tried to run it at a lower resolution on the TV to see if it gets better? You get it on the TV at 1024 thats good.

how do you get that rez on a tv? is it a hdtv? i thought tv's where
640x480. maybe your card is automaticly converting it for tv out.
when i run at higher rez i only see part of the screen at a time

No its not a hdtv. Are you on a laptop? To get it on the TV at that resolution depends on the video card, TV and functions of the coputer. Let me know if its a laptop. And what kind

no, i'm on a desktop with a ati radeon 7200 vi/vo
if i goto higher than standard tv rez (640x480) it shows me part of the screen and scrolls the screen over if the mouse hits the edge of the veiwing area.

would be cool if it excepted other rezolutions (even if it didn't change actual quality) that way i wouldn't have to adjust my rez b4 i switch to tv out. as it is i only use the tv out for watching dvd's anyway

TV dot pitches are terrible when compared to monitors.

I can't get it to preform as well as a monitor. Am taking it back to the store:(

I talked with toad this morning and we concluded that a projector is the only way to go. And $3 or $4 thousand is just too much!

Lesson: Stay away from anyone who promisies to turn your TV into a monitor!!

Dont know about desktops but I used to get laptops to do it all the time and it looked just as good.

Uh-oh - TV will never look as good as a monitor simply because the quality of a TV tube itself won't allow it. Pixels are not small enough and I doubt it will cope refresh rates.

PAL TVs (Europe) give better quality than NTSC ones (US) but even their number of lines tops at 600 or something (there's no "600 x whatever" in the wolrd on "normal" TV - just lines...) and the standard "refresh rate" on any TV is just 25 fps.

Those big monitors cost a fortune for a reason... Projectors is the only way to go at the moment if you want a huge screen, just make sure that the one you want is capable of at least 1024x768 resolution.

Very true, I must not be that picy about it cause they always looked fine to me!!! of course never thaught of looking at the quality when i am in a Spreadsheet!!!!!!
