Nifty, I was talking about ATI.  NVidia is a another bag of worms here lately.

Different manufacturers are using different speed rams, but calling them by the NVidia name (Titanium,..).  So buyer beware.  Unless it has the clock speed on the box, I would not touch it with a ten foot pole, or at least go with the more reputable manufacturers (ASUS, Hercules...).The price is usually a good guidlene for NVidia based boards.  If it is cheap, then you can bet it is using lower quality or slower, or both rams.

Thanks for all the advice fellows! Before I read all the posts I made the purchase of the 8500 White box. I called and found out it was the LE nifty mentioned. If it is at 250 as opposed to 275 would I see a difference in frame rates?

I guess I will find out. In any case it will be a whole lot better than what I have now. :D

Thanks again everyone!

The OEM whitebox is definately clocked lower than the Retail. I bought one when they first came out.  I don't know how ATI (or whoever it is that makes them) is marketing the card now (LE or whatever) but if you don't get the retail version, you get the card clocked at 250 as opposed to 275.  Now, excluding my disgust with ATI for not letting folks know about this until AFTER they hit the market....it's not a bad card at all.  I use "Powerstrip" and it overclocks to 275 with no problems at all.  I can run Aces High at 1600x1200x32 but the FPS drops to "almost" unplayable unless I decrease the view distance around lots of smoke and planes.  At 1024x768x32 sometimes drop to around 20fps but it's pretty much stable at full view settings and runs between 35 and 60fps.  If you like a really pretty picture and are willing to give up a few FPS, and especially if your on a budget, it's a fine card.

(running mine on a PIV 1.7g, i850, 256rdram)
