Framerate 19max, please help
« on: January 15, 2002, 01:24:47 PM »
Hey,

Formatted my hard drive - installed everything.

Problem is AH frame rate maxes to 19 no matter what resolution and color depth.

No antialiasing running or such.

Tested IL-2 in direct-x mode and it worked perfectly.

Duron 850
GeForce 4 MX400
Win 98

All latest drivers should be in use and direct-8.

Before reinstalling I had no problems running AH.

Any ideas?

Why did you reinstall? Were you having other issues? Are you using the same drivers as before? Or did you use new ones.? Clear the programs in msconfig. Try deleting the ../HTC/Aces High/settings/video7.cfg file and then restart the program.

Problem solved.

Older detonator drivers did the trick.

What older driver worked for you? You can find this ino here. From within Windows, click on the Start button -> Settings -> Control Panel. This will bring up the Control Panel. Double click on the Display icon. This will open up your display properties. Inside the display properties, click on Settings -> Advanced, and then click on the tab with the name of the NVIDIA graphics card  installed in your PC. On the bottom of this tab, you will see a white box listing the driver files followed by the driver version. They should all display the same number. The last four digits represent the driver version (ex: 4.13.01.2183 means the driver version is 21.83).

ok i tried all of that stuff. i updated the drivers and Dx to the newest versions.

the frame rate got worse.

so i went back to my older drivers and  then i messed with  the prefs inside of the ati Cp.  frame rates are acceptable. 24 on the tarmak  front view.. and 45   to 56 in the 6 view.  when i get on line  they  drop a bit. i have a dsl connection .( shouldnt be and connection probs on my end. ( never has been)

but, after i cleaned out the sys tray they seemed to improve.
you might want to mention that on the help pages btw.

but when i do the( control i thing) , i  notice that AH is only using about half of my vid card's potential. and it showed the rest of it as  free mem. is this the norm? and if it is couldnt  Ht and the folks find a way to make the allocation for the video mem selectable?
( just a thought)

this would be a nice add on and everyone would get more performance with a lot less hassles. the average end user  wouldnt know how to tweak the settings that i had to mess with. trying to get a acceptable frame rate has been like the search for the holy grail.

and im sure that i do not have it right.
also reading up on it. the ati card is not really a very good choice for the sim.

Btw thanks
