If it's realism you want, I suggest you check out Day of Defeat v2.0. It's out very soon and it's a free mod for half-life. The current version (v1.3b) is good (usually one bullet tags you, none of that circle straffing bollocks), but v2.0 adds sight 'shake' to the sniper rifle, the .30 cal MG, and the MG 34 and 42.

I liked Medal of Honour, but the multiplayer aspect is too quakey for me.
War! Never been so much fun. War! Never been so much fun! Go to your brother, Kill him with your gun, Leave him lying in his uniform, Dying in the sun.

MP in MOH:AA can certainly be gamey - grenades, rockets, sniper rifles and shotgun. I enjoy the hosts that have set a limit of 2 or 3 to the grenades carried.

DOD does look real nice. The site is in German so I cannot read what the gameplay is. How many in MP?

dayofdefeatmod.com isn't in German, dude.

Most good servers are around 24 people or less, but you can find 32 player dedicated servers that rock - really good net code, but 1998 graphics (aside from a kick-ass skeletal animation system from half-life) - They have done a lot with the technology they have.

The thing that annoys me about DoD is that everyone runs at about 30mph.

I'd like to see everything about DoD (weapon damage and accuracy, gameplay, netcode, class system) with MOH graphics and run speed.

My "bad.  It was the link off that page to the 2.0 beta info that was in German.

Thanks for the info!  I have HalfLife although I never really played it much (it was given to me). I'll definately be checking the current DOD mod out as well as the 2.0 version.

Yeah, half-life is worthless for anything other than DoD.  No matter what the masses say. :)

I got it last night and already 1/2 way thru.

Graphics look OK but the people still look to much like Unreal. I think I prefer RTCW.

On a scale of 1 to 10 I would have to give it a 6.

edit to answer Kratzer:

Got my graphics set as high as possible.

Did you turn up the detail levels in advanced settings?
