I realize that this is off-topic, but we have a sharp bunch who read this board, and maybe someone can offer a solution.
Tonight, aside from the worst lag I've seen so far, I experienced a problem with control lockup. This caused me to get waxed twice (once in a Tempest:mad: ) tonight, and caused two ground collisions when I could not get the aircraft to respond to ANY input after entering a gentle left turn, slight nose down. Each time the aircraft (and it happened with a Spitfire and N1K2). Now I thought it might be a problem with my joystick, so I logged off and cranked up EAW. I experienced no like problem. Moreover, it happened last evening as well, causing another crash. Btw, when it does occur, if I look at the ailerons, they do not move whatsoever.
There's nothing worse than suddenly being unable to maneuver when there's a horde of knits buzzing around you.
Has anyone seen this before? It's nothing I'm doing, 'cause it has happened at 250 mph, less than two Gs loading, turning gently to the left. The last time it happened at 10,000 ft, and took a good 30 seconds for the controls to unfreeze, and I was forced to chop power hope I didn't run out of altitude (I didn't, barely).
I recalibrated the joystick, but that did nothing to cure the problem. I really hate to suffer unnecessary deaths because of some glitch. It's caused 5 deaths already.
My Joystick is an older Suncom F-15E Hawk, four button antique. Oddly, it never happened before, and I changed nothing in my configuration prior to this beginning. It uses a serial port. Maybe it's time to get a replacement. Any ideas to the cause of the problem, or suggestions for another joystick?
My regards,
Widewing
