damage model suggestion
« on: January 22, 2002, 07:30:50 PM »
I know the topic of damage modeling has been brought up as to how much damage is caused by shooting... But my suggestion is for mechanical failure. During MA play it would piss people off, but during scenarios I wonder if there is a way to have 'random' mechanical things go wrong. As we all know, planes in WWII had mechanical problems all the time and people had to deal with them. This would eliminate some of the "same old-same old" strategies that pilots always use. How bout a little improvisation and innovation!

A neet feature that would serve no pourpose other than unpset paying subscribers.  Just how happy am I supposed to be when 45 minutes into my special event, I get a mechanical failure???

Yea...oh it adds so much to the experience...not

Lets just consider those who dont show up or have net discos as mechanical failure

Someone gets shot down by an N1K2, they come here and complain.

Someone sees someone warp and prevent them from killing them and they come here and whine.

Someone discos and they come here and whine.

Someone is in a fight that they thought was unfair and they come here and whine.

I suppose HTC will add random mechanical failures when the above fail to generate enough complaining.

And.. btw... you're going to want to lose the "DaLadyzMon" handle.  The spelling combined with the use of "USAF Academy" in your sig make you the gayest man posting on this board.. with the possible exception of animal.

does anyone remember su27 flanker? there was an option to select what part of your plane gets dammaged after so much time passes, lets say you want to practice landing a cripples plane, you set the timer to 5 min to get you all set up then you set the program to destroy your left aileron, rudder and one gear and see if you can land it.

i would love to see something like that implemented, and if you can set it to 1 randome problem with time from 5 min to 1000 min the likely hood that the problem will rise in your 20 min flight is small but still there :)

just wish that people who have nothing to contribute to a great topic would stop comeing in to bash the people just b/c they recently got their butt kicked in AH and feel less of a man untill they can unleash their pathetic excuse for sarcasm into the AH community via a public bbs where people are trying to have important discussions on things that are obviously over their heads!!!

also know as yes it has been a long day huh :)

lol and im going to bed, when i wake up i expect 3-5 good flames and 1 post that is on topic!!!

Enough is Enough -

I have seen too much foul language and people-bashing on the boards lately. I won't say anything immature to AKDejaVu, since I am a fairly mature 19 year old, and I serve in the military. I don't see anything wrong with using my nickname as my handle and my signature being where I currently attend school. ("the gayest man out there"? Je ne comprende pas DejaVu). Just play the game respond to the topic at hand, and grow up please. I assume you are an older person, seeing your 5000 posts, so act it please...

DaLadyzMon, just random faillures is a bit drastic considering the free-time availabe for the average player to play Ah.

But, IMO, there are three kind of failures (actually non present) with known causes:

1 - Engine faillure due overheat.
2 - Guns faillure due hi-G shots.
3 - Increased dispersion and even gun faillure (melt) due long and constant burts.

...and no ammunition counter . In the WW 2, only german planes had a graphic counter. The pilots of other countrys had check mental the secons of fire. Sorry for my poor english.[
