Discos, lockups, power failures, Important Conversations with the wife, and surprise attacks by small children are adequate simulations of mechanical failures.  No need to program them into the code.

LOL, good one.  Thanks for the laugh it was great.  Hell, I’m still laughing at it.  Self proclaimed Casanovas from the academy are gonna get a lot of respect, lmao.

Oh, and, I agree with Popeye.  Add in dog’s barking to get in or out, window’s update alarms, firewall alarms, the phone, and answering the door adds enough mechanical failure.

You forgot to add that in every case, you feel necessary to add your grain of salt in those threads...hence the 5.000+ posts...

(AKDejaVu is a pretty good whine-counter :D)

OTOH, I don't reject the idea for the events or the CT...but I have to admit that I would be pretty p!ssed off if serious mechanical problems happen to me twice in a row during a TOD....(I would probably rush to this BB to whine furiously about it then).

i think they should add the mechanical failur as an option to select or unselect in the setup. that way those of us who want more realism can turn it on and those who dont can turn it off. also for events the option can be forced into play or forced off.

also i would love to see a way to selfdmg your plane via a dot command. like .kill left aileron or .kill engine .kill pilot wounded. this would be good for practicing emergency menuvers offline before you even get online where they are needed and used every hour :)

I get enough discos to account for "mechanical failure", I don't need the game to do it for me- my ISP is already prepared to produce the results you desire.

Oh and Master, you are a good troller. Have you considered changing your name to "Master Baiter"?

This is just asking for problems. There would be big time arguments/whines over whether Focke-Wulfes or Grumman manufactured planes were more succeptible to this or that. "But this plane had that field mod which made it more prone to this failure, blah blah blah".

Interesting idea, but waay too much work for the payoff IMO.

Does this new damage model use a roulette wheel or maybe just a dart board?   I like the game to remain more skill than luck tho.

Discos do a great job of simulating mechanical failure.
