Cheatin or Warping, you decide!

Lat night I found my self playing the alt-monkey pony dweeb.  I spot an la7 straight and levle about 6-7k below me.  I immediately split-s and dived for his 6.  The la7 keeps his course, I'm beginning to think I have an afk'r here.  I close to D<400 open up with all guns.  The instant the bullets left my guns, the LA& dissapears.  Vanishes clean into thin air.

Now maybe the guy alt-f4'd but I got no prox kill and at d<400 on his dead 6 one would at least expect a prox kill if he discod or alt-f4d.  The striking thing was how accurately timed the dissapearing act was to co-incide with my bullets leaving my guns headed for his airframe.

So a couple of questions.

1, Was this guy cheating?
2, If so how did he do it, and how can this type of thing be stopped.

If this were cheating somehow, it needs to be stopped right now before AH turns into a "Cheaters High".

IMO, this seems to be a disco coincidence. Inducted warps are just that, warps, but the warpers dont vanish. The inducted warp is very easy to detect, you see the enemy turning, rolling and changing his course with no warps at all except when you are at his six IMO, anything else are normal warps, discos or ALT-F4.

i was fighting a fw that kept finding wormholes - it was on his end and he was nice enough to disengage after he checked his status, so it's quite possible the la7 went poof and showed up somewhere else out of your vis due to a connection issue.

Had the same thing happen to me last night vrs a b17 fresh off the deck. He killed some tinhorn who flew in dead 6 of him for his attack, i went high got out infront of his flight path boomed down and sprayed his fuselage and he disapeered. i got a kill for it though (since i had landed hits).  This guy probably ALT-4'd im thinking.

Maybe your target was "lagged out" and wasnt atcualy there when you dove down on him. Or maybe just a cheating bastage!

The flip side.....  Last night I was in a fight with a P47D-11 and after alot of dancing I finally was saddled up and at 250yrds or so following his yanks and banks pouring everything my C205 had into him. And he seemed undamaged (man that Jug can take alot i think to myself). We are still doing all that pilot stuff and I continue to  get hits all over him that are now 100% 20mm and he still has no smoke or parts missing.  Just then I get the host disconnect message and am looking at the desktop.  
Now if we were both manuevering right up to the end, were my bullets rubber before the disco or was I not recieving the damage updates to his plane, and did he get a disco kill?

Defintally sounds like a disco, or alt + f4. I have had the same thing happen to me, but with other planes. I get the proxy kill, but you have to wait 3 mins.

Dead right Dawvgrid.  I kinda take the same approach with kill stealers.  I used to get all worked up and angry, now I just think to myself, "Well if they need a kill that badly they're welcome to it:)"

I had a similar thing today, I bounced a n1k he didn't see me at all. I sprayed and sprayed him.. Untill I disappeared. Host connect lost.
