Trains causeing problems
« on: January 23, 2002, 05:18:50 PM »
seems to me that with the latest update the trains are creating a problem b/c they auto supply factories and such. ive found it quite fun to kill them but the point still remains that they are causeing problems.

solution? how about makeing the trains drivable by humans and removeing the automated resuply! now before you guys say that is stupid. i already know of many peole (model train buffs) who would jump at the chance to be able to drive them online while there is an airwar going on, hell they drive them around their tabletop for hours!!! so HTC could add about 5 types of trains on each side along with a list of cars, like guncars, troop cars, cargo cars, etc... and the train operation picks his loadout, aranges his cars and then departs, the only problem is youll have to place two tracks instead of one b/c you dont want a train wreck :) but this could be a great option!

benifits? the train takes about 30-45 min to travel between cities and such depending on the terrain (except for that pac terrain where the trucks drive for 2+ hrs) that is about the same time as a flight takes. now while train hunting there has been several times where ihave destroyed the trains cargo and the train just respawns it. that could now be removed (how many times has your goon's field cargo been killed before it landed?) also ive managed to cut the cargo loose by killing the car that is closest to the engine, the train just leaves it there!!! a human person would push the brakes and reline up the cargo and continue on his way!!!

also the same goes for barges, if you create a rolling ocean where it is possible to sink your own boat im sure that you would get plunty more people in the pt boats!!! and if you add other cargo boats you might could even get people from sims like virtual sailor 5 into this game!!! but that is just a idea!

hmm.. this may have potential.

If they're player controled there's gotta be some way of knowing when one is heading out or something.  Like a gv bar marker (assuming those get  changed :D )

And the engineers have to be able to man at least a couple of the guns on thier flak cars so aren't just targets.

I'd drive a train every now and again for a change :D

Great idea, Master! Gets my vote. Eventually, AH could wind up being what WWII wants to be.

S!

How about the idea of having most trains being AI, but giving the players the option to launch a special `AA` Train.

The Germans did this a lot, sending out Trains disguised to look like the ordinary thing, but when Allied Fighterbombers dove on them, the roofs of the cars would slide back and the unlucky Allied Fighter jock would find himself confronted with 20 fast firing 20mm`s hammering away at him.  ;)

A great idea.

I like the ability to up an AA train per Buzzbait's sugguestion.

Now if we could get the AI trains to stay out of the water :)

I'm thinking that "could"  should be "will". :) .. and sooner, too!
