Emergency Fuel Dump Switch

I need one.... too many times i get caught on climbout with a heavy fuel load for a long flight, and no way to dump the extra fuel.  Would be nice to be able to dump fuel at will so u can engage a con with a better weight ratio

walk on the wing
and unplug the gas button
squeeze your wing a little and hop you dump extra fuel.....
after this effort , just light a cigar

Well, in Ju-88 (yes, even in our A-4) at least, you could dump fuel in couple of minutes.

I hardly think that 88 is only plane with this being possible

 Hey cool, I can just take DT and 100 fuel fly around with no worries about fuel managment and if I happen to get in trouble i can just dump all but 1/4 of my fuel and duke it out.....

I'll take a reduced internal fuel load, and grab a drop tank as a "cushion".  Fist sign of trouble, drop the tank, and you're lean and mean .

The WWII planes didnt have an emergency fuel dump so it shouldnt be added.  Ya might as well ask for JATO bottles to blast ya up to altitude so you can fight better.  

Many of todays modern large jet aircraft have fuel dump capabilities, but that is because they can take off at a much greater weight than they can land, and they would have to be able to lighten up considerably to land if there was an emergence shortly after takeoff.

Actually, nearly every WWII multi-engine bomber had fuel dumps. They were gravity induced flow, however (so it alone has it's own physics modeling   )

In addition, many Naval fighters had fuel dumps for safety purposes when landing on carriers (or water for float planes)

For a quick example, the PBY Catalina has 2 fuel spigots per wing, next to the fuselage that trail out slightly from the under side of the wing.

I believe that some F4U's had a release valve routed through the cockpit. As did most other naval fighters. It was by no means a fast process though.

Its everywhere, even in the commercial stuff (really).  Check out the local airport and the twin-engine airplanes there, namely Commanches and Barons.  take off weight is way up there, landing weight in a whole new story.

Had a KC-135 I was flying on show a hydraulics warning indicator at 5,000 feet.  Not really all that high to dump fuel but it had to be done.  Got back to base fine but we were discussing how we hoped what we dumped evaporated before hitting earth....over a populous area, one schmuck lighting up his grill could've blasted us to Saturn!  

There's also rumor of an F-16 maneuver where the pilot comes in slow but at a high angle of attack, which would produce a lot of wake turbulence.  Dump fuel into this and light burner and supposedly its one HELLUVA site to see (and loud).  Don't recall what its called.  Never seen it, just heard of it.

Now, Wesley Crusher and his fellow cadets vented drive plasma for the Cobalt Star manuever.....any Trekkies here? hehe
