Did you partition and format the new harddrive? If you didn't it won't show up in XP.

What version of display drivers you're using? Get the latest one from http://www.nvidia.com and try with that.

Check your bios settings, make sure you have video caching off and agp aperture set to 128Mb.

You mentioned FAT32 file system, that is an older file system from win98, XP uses NTSC file system not sure if you reformated before you put in your drives or if you have XP at all.  Try reformating you old drive and see if that works XP if i remember correctly has to use NTSC file system or its no good.

First of all, you should have formated the new hard drive as either fat32 or ntfs file system.  (Someone above put ntsc - ntsc is the standard that TVs in the US use. :)  )  You also need to be sure your new drive has the little jumper set to "slave" if you haven't done so already.

Fat32 works just fine with WindowsXP, for that you don't need to reformat.

You have to partition and format the new harddrive using fdisk or some third party software (look from harddrive manufacturer web site) before you do that, windows just won't reckognize it.

Another approach is to unplug the original hd, boot from XP cdrom and run XP setup. The setup will first partition and format the harddrive.. After you have formatted the drive you can quit the setup there, plug back the old harddrive (just remember to move the new harddrive as a slave with the jumper) and you're done.

Actually I think it's enough just to create the primary partition and after that XP can format and partition the drive further.

As Bloom said, check that you have the hd setup as primary slave or secondary master. If it shares a cable with another component, it should be set to slave (original device is most likely set to master)

Theres no need to use fdisk if you're not formatting your system disk, or trying to reparition an existing disk if you're using XP.

If you go into control panel, and open the administrative tools, open computer maangement. Then click on disk management on the left hand side.

From here you'll see all the drives attached to your computer and you can format and make new partitions, even change drive letters and such.

Starbird if there is no primary partition on the drive the drive management doesn't see any drives attached.

At least that's what happened to me when I installed my new harddrive under w2k. So drive management showed up empty untill I had set up the primary partition.

Only download Via 4in1 drivers if your motherboard has a Via Chipset, if it does than by all means d/l it, if not dont bother.  As far as what Det drivers you need the newest ones seem to very buggy.  go to http://www.guru3d.com and you can find almost every det driver out there.  Find an older version that is still compatible with XP and maybe that will help. Well watermelon it seems that the downloads page at guru is down.  Im not sure where else you can find the drivers. I would just do a search at the best search engine in the world http://www.37.com  it searches 37 search engines at the same time...hope all this helps....good luck mate

http://www.videocarddrivers.com/nvidia.htm
 or better yet http://www.the-ctrl-alt-del.com/

the second site has drivers all the way up to 27.10 my suggestion would be to download all the relevant XP drivers and keep installing them until you find one that works the best

Im sure the 27.10 drivers are not WHQL certified but more than likey leaked Beta drivers so you might wanna try older versions 1st

The older drivers lack support for Ti line of geforce and that renders them useless. Windoze won't even let you install them.
