New direction for the CT...
« on: January 30, 2002, 03:54:04 PM »
...whether that direction is a good one or straight off a cliff is something we shall soon see. ;)

The CT staff is putting together a WWII Arena style planeset that we'll be running in the Combat Theater starting this Saturday, Feb. 2nd thru the 9th. ALL planes will be involved in this setup using a cheap perk system that we are hashing out on the CT staff board right now. I'll post a link to the perk list as soon as we get it finalized.

This is an attempt to reach out to people who may not have been inclined to fly in the CT in the past and would lean more towards a MA type arena setting. If response is positive to this, we will likely put it in the regular rotation. CT veterans,  no need to fret, the radar/icon settings will be CT standard, The only difference will be a full axis/allied planeset!

We hope you will give this a go, and spread the word to your squaddies too.

a complete planeset for all sides? or would it be aranged so that each country has access to either allied or axis so some of the historical plane matchups continue?

Having looked at your other thred Hblair "Full Allies vs. Axis arena coming soon... " I seem to have stumbled upon the answer myself hehe  :D

What this post didn't make clear, the pointer in the General forum did.

Still  Axis vs. Allies, utillizing all planes in the set.

The whines should be beautiful. :D

are the planes going to be phased in (rps type) like we had in the euro map?

With the perk planes being those that are next to be introduced?

or all axis planes on one side and allied planes on the other?

well, there are some things of course that won't work, such as the axis not having an air drop aircraft, or now that I think about tit, all methods for any country to insert troops are US built. Also, the allies wouldn't have a tank.

this is probably my main reason for ranting about how all anyone wants is fighters when we have fighters that can stand on their own.
Crap... not gonna hijack a thread...

 Great idea guys

Let me be the first.:p

Ugh, one of the  things I like about the CT was the limited plane set.  Here come the tons of nikis and La7s.  Small numbers of perkies are easy to accrue through milkruns.

I thought the reason for the CT was historical maps, senarios and plane sets.

Now it sound like we'll have an MA with reduced dar, and everything is perked.

Hblair,
Axis Vs Allied planes I hope?
How about making British only planes available at one base, German at another, US next door, etc?
Anyway that would still pit historical match-ups against each other would be cool by me.
I think the historical advisary aspect of the CT is what draws many of us into the CT.  PLEASE don't lose that.

Thanks

S! Thrawn

This is a 1 week setup.

We are not abandoning historical setups.

We are waiting for maps etc. to come online, and in addition, we want to try out different possibilities for the CT.

A lot of people wanted to try this, so we are going to give it a whirl.

You will see a Sicily/Malta setup from me within the month.  And Macchi lovers will be happy to know the MC205 will be an `Uber` aircraft in that planeset.    ;)

                                                Cheers Buzzbait

Good idea fellas.

I would think you'll have to make planes like the C-47, and ground vehicles available to all sides. One thing to remember too is the AXIS lack of heavy bombers, you might consider giving them something to represent planes like the HE-177, I guess you guys are on top of it though. Good Luck, VF-27 will be there.
