Wulfie's perk points.
« on: March 10, 2001, 03:14:00 AM »
Ok, first off.

I accidentally deleted my account THE DAY BEFORE 1.06 CAME OUT.

Argh.

(actually, my Nephew deleted the account I think, but he's too young to be responsible, or maybe he was trying to do me a favor)

So my handle, until I can get someone to change it (not going to ask for a week or two I get the idea that the HTC people are kind of busy), is Desslok.

Desslok = Wulfie.

So, new account.

Flying fairly suicidally (still trying to learn the AH flight modeling and gunnery model - the best way to learn is thru intense action) in a wide range of fighter aircraft I had the perk points to buy a Ta-152 after about 20 sorties.

So, averaging around 1 kill/sortie and landing about 1/3 of my sorties I got a shiny new 'uber' aircraft to play with.

I'm kind of in Ripsnort's boat here. One thing I (and others) predicted seems to have come true - perk aircraft attract alot of attention. If I'm in a Fw 190A-5, 1 of the 3 enemy aircraft above me will probably dive down to engage me in a 10 on 10 fight, as I try to get a gun solution on an enemy aircraft. If I'm in a Tempest V, and I'm the only perk aircraft within visual range, I think I just guranteed 3 bad guys diving on me.

When am I going to use my perk aircraft?

I see using the Tempest V and Ta 152H in the name of teamwork.

Someone spots a high alt organized raid heading for my team's HQ? That's when I'll break out the Ta 152H.

An opposing team has a strong high alt CAP established? Break out the Ta 152H. I'll be flying more to force the enemy CAP down and break them up that to dive in, get a bunch of kills, and end up scissoring on the deck (which is what I'd do in a Fw 190A-5).

Ar 234s causing us some problems? Bust out the Tempest V or Ta 152H.

When trying to shoot down lots of bad guys, I get the feeling I'll get more done in a non perk aircraft sometimes.

Anyway, that's what I think of it so far.

In general, I think perk aircraft will be more 'effective' when used for specific missions or used as part of a coordinated mission. For instance, I saw a couple of Ar 234s being escorted by lone Tempest Vs. Good idea - anything fast enough to catch the Ar 234 can probably only be caught by a perk aircraft.

And lazs has to admit one thing - killing a perk aircraft in a mid war aircraft sure feels good. 8)

Bad news.  Your perk points are gone.  Zip, nil, nada.

My account (LePaul) had a lotta points and I cancelled my subscription 2 weeks into 1.05 since my old PC just couldn't play worth a dang near a CV.

Upgraded to a new PC and am back in Aces High again, now as BD5Pilot.  Called and talked to HiTech Friday.  Can't get/transfer the perk points from one account to another.

If they change/fix that, let me know!

wufie... i've still been flying the 1D so every new plane they added is like fighting an idiotic perk plane.   they have chopped the bottom right out of the set and put all the focus on late late war.   I feel lucky if i can kill even one lag7 or D9 or 51B or whatever and still make it home.   the game is getting less fun and now they turned out the lights to boot.

P-51B is a 1943/44 aircraft. You think it's "late war" compared to the F4U-1D?

Have you also considered whether you just suck?

Oops. Just checked.

Actually, you have: 75 kills, 25 deaths

2 kills of a FW190D9, no deaths to them
3 kills of a La-7, no deaths to them
No kills of a P-51B, and no deaths to them
No kills of a Tempest, and no deaths to them
No kills of a Ta-152, and no deaths to them
No kills of a Yak-9T, and no deaths to them.
No kills of a 190F8, and no deaths to them.

You haven't been killed once by a perk plane or any aircraft new in 1.06.

What's killing you (8 deaths) is the good ol' CHog. Not the perk planes and new 1.06 "late war" aircraft that have been the 7,623th thing to supposedly ruin Aces High for you.

thanks for looking all that up for me torgo I think it may be a little off tho since i was killed a couple of times by 190's and lags but... the arena is new with nobody knowing how to fight the new planes.   Anyone can avoid a P51 but I'd just as soon not.  the lag7, yak and others  will totally outclass my hog when the people start flying em smart.   i had to fly harder than I ever did even in this arena with so many clumsy guys.   I had to pick my fite and make a kill and run I got shot up by Yaks and 190's every time.

I had to bug out from "190 something" a bunch of times when I either couldn't catch it or it climbed away from me like i was standing still.   I had to dodge a bunch of tempests.  luckily there was too much action for em to chase me into the crowd...  When the arena thins and better pilots are in em.... It ain't gonna get better right?

To summarize.... the only reason i did as well as I did was because no one is using these planes well and the arena is very crowded.   I hold no illussions that the DHog will be anything but a novelty plane soon.
